This is an extremely impressive peaceful protest. It’s incredible that this has been maneuvered. The blend of support of the people demonstrating by sheer numbers combined with the leadership to have the potential to actually make a political change is brilliant. And that all of this is occurring without a call to arms, that’s something.

Might be our lucky year. 🍀 More elections are a waste of time. Just a delay tactic. I don't think anyone will fall for that. This summer likely decides the future of Iraqi Dinar. One of the big whales 🐳 is the oil law, since it's most of the economy. Once they have that, they can RV, I can spend more time. 🏌️‍♂️

Parliament is facing the biggest crisis since its session

Al-Tamimi said: "Yes, this is permissible in the light of Article 21 of the Parliament's internal system, which said Parliament sessions are held in Baghdad and can be held in other places when necessary."
He explained, "Here, the text authorized the holding of sessions in Baghdad and in another governorate, and the term places include all governorates, even the governorates of the Kurdistan region, which can be held when necessary in any governorate other than Baghdad."
Iraq witnessed successive developments after the Sadrist movement's supporters protested against the nomination of MP Muhammad Al-Sudani for prime minister, with other demonstrations in support of the coordination framework forces on Monday at the Green Zone gate "in support of legitimacy and protection of the state and its institutions."
On Sunday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, launched an initiative on the current political developments in the country, in which he called on the political parties in Iraq to come to Erbil to start an open dialogue with the aim of reaching an understanding and agreement based on the higher interests of the country.
In a statement yesterday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi also called on "all parties to calm down and reduce escalation, to start an initiative for a solution on national grounds, and not to be drawn into accusations, the language of treason, and to set up hostility and hatred between the Brotherhood in the one country and to sit at the table of a national dialogue.
" Among the political leaders, including the head of the National State Forces Alliance, Mr. Al-Hakim, supported Al-Kazemi’s initiative.
Today, Tuesday, the Kurdistan Democratic Party renewed its call on all Iraqi parties to respond to the initiative launched by the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, for dialogue in Erbil in order to get out of the crisis that afflicts the Iraqi political process.

Shafaq News/ The lens of Shafak News Agency documented, on Wednesday, the transformation of the walls of the Iraqi parliament building, on the fifth day of the Sadrist sit-ins, into an exhibition of clan banners to support the leader of the Sadrist movement, as well as others bearing the demands of the protesters.

The camera toured inside and outside the parliament courtyard, which turned into a permanent headquarters for the Sadrist sit-ins, and monitored dozens of banners bearing the titles and names of the clans supporting the leader of the Sadrist movement and in response to his demand to invite the clans to support him.

The walls of the Iraqi parliament were filled with the race of the sons of the tribes supporting al-Sadr to obtain “space” here and there to make their banners visible in support of the Sadrists, with the increase of tribal support on the fifth day of the sit-ins.

The camera lens also documented the daily movement of the sit-in, and some of them fell asleep due to fatigue and according to the shift system that was directed by the Minister of Al-Sadr, with some of whom the Shafak News correspondent met, repeating that the electricity is constantly available in Parliament and there is no equal in their homes.

In a country that has been witnessing political paralysis for several months, hundreds of demonstrators entered the Green Zone twice within seventy-two hours, in a new show of popular power led by al-Sadr, to increase pressure through it on his political opponents.

When he raises his index finger and raises his eyebrows, Iraq is holding its breath. The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, is distinguished by the aura of the cleric, and a role that forms the weight of the political balance in the country. Al-Sadr, the political heavyweight and the cleric, once again demonstrated to his political opponents that he still enjoys a wide popular base, and that he is capable of He must mobilize his supporters in order to advance his reform agenda in the political scene, and since Saturday, his supporters have been holding an open sit-in inside the Green Zone. These confirm that there is obedience to their leader, and that they will not leave unless they are asked to do so, and the reason is that Al-Sadr rejected the candidate of his political opponents in the coordination framework, for prime minister, after he left them the task of forming the government, following the resignation of his seventy-three deputies from Parliament, in one of his sudden steps .

Through the Twitter platform, Al-Sadr releases many political messages, and despite his relations with several parties, his comments often anger those close to the parties to the framework and even beyond the borders. He does not hesitate to demand, for example, the dissolution of the factions, and despite his leadership personality, he is very firm in some positions related to reform. He has rejected all initiatives that want to maintain the consensual government and eliminate the project of the majority. He did not officially announce his rejection of the latest initiative put forward by Al-Kazemi, as perhaps it will satisfy Al-Sadr and open new horizons in the dialogue between the political parties.

Alsumaria News - Baghdad

I hope all the political parties are prepared for the long haul.... Sadar and his followers have the will power to last months if need be.  I don't think for a minute he will join any talks any time soon unless Parliament is dissolved

Today, Wednesday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called for the dissolution of the Iraqi parliament and the holding of early elections.

Al-Sadr said in his speech that there is no point in dialogue as long as the Iraqi people have said their word in the elections, stressing at the same time that he will not accept bloodshed, and that he is not seeking power but rather reform in Iraq that only comes with sacrifice.

The leader of the Sadrist movement also called on the protesters to stay until the demands are achieved, and thanked the security forces and supporters of the revolution.

SADR DEMANDS EARLY ELECTIONS, DISSOLUTION OF PARLIAMENT

Sadr demands early elections, dissolution of parliament (nrttv.com)

SULAIMANI — Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr said on Wednesday (August 3) dialogue with the Coordination Framework is useless and stated the Sadrist Movement is demanding early elections as well as the dissolution of the Iraqi parliament.

Sadr thanked the security forces and those he said are against corruption and who want to make the Iraqi revolution a success. He has called for demonstrations and the sit-ins to continue until the demands of the protestors are met.

He said he has not decided whether or not to participate in new elections and criticized the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court’s decision to require a quorum of two-thirds in order to elect the president, referring to "malicious lawsuits that obstructed the formation of the majority government.”

Supporters of the Sadrist Movement began protests on Saturday, when they broke into the Green Zone and occupied the parliament building. Salih Mohammed, a prominent figure in the Sadrist Movement, called on protestors to leave the parliament building within 72 hours on Tuesday.

The protestors have been camped in the parliament building since Saturday.

New elections solve nothing unless you ban ALL Pro-Iranian, criminal ( known )  candidates from the process. Probably not happening.

Maliki and cohorts get reelected & it's Deja Vu all over again.

Arrest Maliki & company & ALL known criminal elements. Purge the system.

New elections will only work if ALL previously known criminal politicians are removed from the process.
