  Sorry,  couldn't help it,  pp

That was a good one.    I heard a picture of Hilary Clinton is in the packet insert to look at if it lasts that long.

But seriously,  it looks more like an Arab Spring is happening there which they need.  If the young people in Iran realize this, there are next.

Baghdad - people

A press report highlighted the transformation of the Green Zone into a city open to Iraqis, in light of the open sit-in launched by the Sadrist movement's supporters.

The report, which was published by the newspaper "Al-Sharq al-Awsat" and followed by "Nass" (August 2, 2022): "The highly fortified presidential green zone, which houses most government buildings, including the Iraqi parliament, has transformed overnight from an area whose entry is restricted to stakeholders from Members of the government and parliament and the rest of the departments and ministries and the employees working in them, to what looks like a recreational resort, which is frequented by large numbers of Baghdadis and others, whether those who belong to the Sadr movement, or those who are discontent with the authority of various groups, or even some curious people who want to learn about the nature of life and the places frequented and lived by the people’s representatives and the rest of the government figures.”

He added, "Most of the Baghdadis and others remained for about twenty years in complete isolation from these places, after they were surrounded by strong walls and protection lines to prevent targeting operations that might affect them. The Green Zone and entering Parliament and stationing in it, thus providing an irreplaceable opportunity for those wishing to (the picnic) and see the (mysterious and magical) worlds of the Presidential Green Zone.

He continued, "The government of former Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi decided in 2018 to partially open the streets of the Green Zone to ordinary citizens, and then retreated and closed them again during the stage of popular protests that began in 2019. According to an officer in the Ministry of Interior working in the Green Zone, the Entry is limited to the "four cards" campaign, or entry cards bearing the colors (black, red, yellow, green) and the colors are distributed according to the importance of the person who wants to enter.

The officer, who prefers not to be named, says that "the black color is for owners Ranks and senior positions of representatives, ministers and officials, while the green color is allocated to officers who hold the rank of brigadier general and above and those of their rank among the employees, and the red color card is allocated to officers with the rank of colonel and below, and the yellow color is allocated to officers with the rank of major and below.

The officer added that “granting the black color is a prerogative of the prime minister, and it can be granted to some people and guests who are not working in the Green Zone, but they frequent it for political, commercial or journalistic purposes, or those associated with certain interests with some political blocs and figures, and so on.”

The four colored cards have today lost their importance and function, and pedestrians and people going to the Green Zone can see tens of thousands of citizens coming from different neighborhoods of the capital and from distant governorates, distributed over a wide social affiliation area, and from different religious and ethnic affiliations, the poor, the destitute, the employees, the wealthy and the professionals. And housewives, the irony is that one of the security forces appeared in a “video” talking about his happiness in entering the Green Zone for the first time after he had been a guard for its walls for many years!

Al-Jabri expects 7 scenarios to solve the political dilemma

Baghdad - people

Professor of political science and former Secretary-General of the Virtue Party, Nadim Al-Jabri, predicted, on Tuesday, seven scenarios to solve the political dilemma.

Al-Jabri said in a blog post, followed by "Nass" (August 2, 2022), entitled "The Possible Solution Scenario", that "after the review of force from the two sides of the conflict (the Sadrist movement and the coordination framework) represented by entering the parliament building and picking it up from the bases of the Sadrist movement in exchange for The demonstrations carried out by the supporters of the coordination framework against the suspension bridge show that the balance is preponderant in favor of the Sadrist movement, which will control the upcoming political scene in an amount that fundamentally changes the balances of the political process without totally disturbing some of the internal balances and international and regional restrictions.

He added, "On this basis, it is likely that the process of resolving and ending this crisis will take place according to the following steps:

1 - The resigned Sadrist bloc will return to the parliament.

2 - The tripartite alliance (Al-Sadr, Barzani and Al-Halbousi) will be rebuilt.

3 - Hadi Al-Amiri's bloc and perhaps others will join the tripartite coalition to secure the two-thirds majority required to secure the election of the President of the Republic.

4 - Perhaps Hoshyar Zebari will be returned to the presidential race and win it, or he will be replaced by Reber Ahmed, the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

5 - The Sadrist movement will choose Jaafar al-Sadr as prime minister, as a maximum, or renew Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s term as a minimum.

6 - This may result in the political isolation of a leading figure from the coordination framework.

7- Fundamental amendments may be made to the composition of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Federal Court.

Shafaq News/ The leader of the Sadrist movement, Jaber Al-Khafaji, alluded, on Tuesday, to rejecting the initiative put forward by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi for dialogue between the Iraqi parties to get out of the current political crisis.

Al-Khafaji said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that "we do not accept any prosthetic solutions or sitting at a round table, and a radical change is required."

The one close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, justified his allusion to rejecting Al-Kazemi’s initiative, saying: “The people have become intolerant and do not accept the presence of thieves, and they are tired of living with subordination and agents, while they look before their eyes as their country is being stolen, and neighboring countries control it.”

In a statement, the Prime Minister called on "all parties to calm down and reduce escalation, to start an initiative for a solution on national grounds, and not to be drawn into accusations, the language of treason, and the eruption of hostility and hatred between the Brotherhood in the one country."

He also called on "all parties to sit at the table of a national dialogue to reach a political solution to the current crisis, under the roof of Iraqi synergy and the mechanisms of national dialogue."

A source in the Iraqi Council of Ministers revealed, on Tuesday, that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi is moving to hold a round table meeting, to gather the parties in the political process.

The political scene in Iraq has undergone serious developments since supporters of the Sadrist movement led by prominent Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr stormed the parliament building in the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, and protested against the nomination of the coordination framework, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, for the position of Prime Minister for the next federal government.

On Monday, demonstrations against the Sadrist movement took place near the suspension bridge leading to the Green Zone, after an invitation from the "Organizing Committee to support Legitimacy and Preserve State Institutions."

The Sadrist bloc had obtained the highest votes in the early legislative elections that took place in October of 2021, but the efforts of the leader of the current failed to form the new federal government due to the Shiite coordination framework standing in its way by obtaining a fatwa from the Federal Court with the so-called blocking third in a contract The session for electing the President of the Republic, which paves the way for naming the Prime Minister.

The three-way alliance between the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Masoud Barzani, the Sovereignty Alliance headed by Khamis al-Khanjar, and the Sadrist movement led by Muqtada al-Sadr was broken following the resignation of the Sadrist bloc's deputies, and the movement's withdrawal from the political process by order of al-Sadr.

The political scene is living in a crisis situation and a dead end unprecedented in the history of Iraq, as more than 300 days have passed since the early elections without being able to form a new government in the country, and the survival of the caretaker government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi.

On the tenth of last October, Iraq held early legislative elections to get out of a political crisis that swept the country after large demonstrations in the central and southern regions in 2019 in protest against the widespread unemployment in society, the spread of financial and administrative corruption in government departments and institutions, and the deteriorating reality The service and the livelihood, which prompted the former prime minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, to resign under popular pressure.

As soon as the preliminary results of the elections were announced, the voices of political forces and actors rose in their rejection of losing many seats, accusing them of major fraud in the ballot, which was denied by the executive and judicial authorities, at a time when the United Nations and international organizations praised the integrity of the electoral process.

Early elections won't solve their problems. They'll just elect a new bunch of criminals and some old ones will be re-elected.

You'll have arrest Maliki & everyone else within the Pro-Iranian influence, create new laws barring any Pro-Iranian individuals from even running for office & furthermore, anyone with any inkling of Pro-Iranian leanings, barring them from being appointed to any civil service job.

You'd have to vett everyone prior to running for Parliamentary seats in general elections.

Good luck with any of what I've just suggested.

They have no shame, integrity, honor & no word for FLUFFY!!!

What do U do with people like that ?  Well one or 2 things do suggest themselves, but most folks think my solutions are very permanent and not in keeping with a more kinder understanding of peoples shortcomings. To that end I say it's good riddance to bad rubbish and look to finding honest men of good conscience.
