Iranian media reported that the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Abdul Reza Masri, and the Second Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmad, met on the sidelines of the Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAMPN) held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. During the meeting, the deputy head of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly stressed the principle of good neighborliness and brotherhood between the two countries, adding, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported peace and stability in the region, and has made its policy based on expanding relations with neighboring countries." In turn, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives pointed to the importance of the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting Takfiri and terrorist groups.
