Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Interior announced, on Friday, a rise in crime rates related to the economic aspect during the two years 2020-2021.

The Ministry's spokesman, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, said in an exclusive statement to Shafaq News Agency, that the ministry conducted a comparison study of the crime rate between 2020-2021, and it was clear through this study an increase in the rates of crimes that depend on the economic aspect, namely thefts and fraud, indicating a significant decrease. In the reality of violent crimes of murder and quarrels.

He explained that the crimes of theft and fraud are carried out in several ways, some of which are traditional and common, and others are novel and the criminals are mastered by, adding that one of the methods that has recently spread is what is known as hypnosis, and it turned out later that there is no such method, but rather a fraud through the use of Sleight of hand or many of the means that perpetrators use to take advantage of people's simplicity and deceive them in different ways.

The Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman called on citizens to take precautions and follow up on fraud and fraud crimes that are being installed in society, and which the ministry publishes.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Interior announced that it had recorded an increase in the rates of economic crimes such as theft and fraud.  

  

  

The spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, said in a statement to the official newspaper, followed by "Nas", (July 3, 2022), that "according to the statistics implemented by the ministry, there is a decrease in the year 2021 for murders and crimes of a violent nature using weapons compared to the year 2020. While the last period witnessed an increase in crimes on the economic side, such as thefts, fraud and others.  

  

And he indicated that "the occurrence of crimes in which a university professor or a judge was the victim, are classified according to their motives, and most of them are caused by clan and material quarrels and conflicts, and many honor crimes are among the murders."   

  

He explained that "the lesson in the matter is the control and professionalism of the security services in dealing with these crimes according to modern and advanced methods, and the ability to uncover their details, prosecute the perpetrators and arrest them as quickly as possible."  

  

 

  

Earlier, the ministry said that the use of surveillance cameras contributed to reducing the crime rate in Baghdad.  

  

The Director of the Rumors Fighting Department at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Nibras Muhammad, stated, in a statement to the official agency, followed by "Nass" (June 11, 2022), that "the spread of the culture of surveillance cameras as a societal awareness that supports the security effort, and contributed to strengthening this effort and reducing the crime rate significantly, because Those cameras are the third eye of a policeman."    

  

Muhammad added, "These cameras help track those involved in crimes and know how they got to the crime scene, and the Ministry of Interior's invitation to citizens to set them up helped expedite the arrest of criminals," noting that "areas that contain cameras, the crime rate is low or non-existent."    

  

Regarding the non-proliferation of surveillance cameras throughout Baghdad, Muhammad explained, "The surveillance cameras in Baghdad could not cover all areas due to the continuous urban expansion in the capital," noting that "Baghdad Governorate established a project for cameras to monitor public streets, diagnose outlaw cases and detect crimes. ".    

  

He continued, "The ministry called on the owners of companies to import cameras from the best sources and provide citizens with them in order to facilitate access to crimes."
