Mubasher: The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced, today, Wednesday, the start of establishing interconnection stations with Saudi Arabia and determining the paths of the transmission lines, while defining the advantages of the connection and its impact on the energy level.

The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Musa, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that the ministry is establishing and working on the readiness of stations to establish the link between Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

Moussa added that Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi side related to the electrical connection, and there are periodic meetings in which the ministry has made important strides to move the connection, indicating that the paths through which the lines will be established will be established between the two countries, as well as the identification of future stations for the connection points.

Moussa concluded that the main purpose of the electrical interconnection projects is the readiness and stability of the electrical network, and the entry of Iraq under the interconnection projects into the energy market, whether it is Arab, Gulf or international, in addition to making Iraq, according to the linkage projects, an important member of the energy market to achieve stability for the network, and also, In the coming days, Iraq will be a preserver and a conduit for energy.

The Saudi Cabinet, at its meeting on Tuesday, approved a memorandum of understanding with Iraq in the field of electrical interconnection.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity said that there are two different connections, the first of which is Turkish, and this has been technically completed 100%, and the ministry has obtained official approvals, and Iraq is waiting for an increase in Iraq's need for energy in the summer to supply 500 megawatts to the northern governorates.

Regarding the connection with Jordan, Moussa explained that work on this connection was referred to the General Electric Company and urged the ministry to complete the work within a quick timeframe, stressing that work is underway on the Risha Al-Qaim line and the Al-Qaim transformer station, and the examination of soil paths, study of connection points, identification of paths and work has been completed.

He continued, "The Gulf connection is 88% complete, and we need to search for the tariff price for the line that connects the Al-Faw station with the Al-Zour station in Kuwait, and our meetings are periodic with the Gulf side."

With regard to solar energy projects to generate electricity and strengthen the national system, Moussa indicated that the ministry is in the process of preparing and organizing procurement and connection contracts, and implementation, and therefore the matter needs a set of protocol procedures with departments related to the installation and completion of stations, noting that it will be ready within the limits of the ministry's medium-term plan. .
