What will it take to have common sense gun control. 
 

An eighteen year old can’t buy alcohol. 
An eighteen year old can’t rent a car. 
An eighteen year old can’t buy a hand gun(in Texas)

But an eighteen year old CAN go out an buy an AR15 assault rifle! Really how f-ing stupid is that? 
And no, nobody is taking away your guns. If parents want to buy a gun for their kids, fine. Kids go hunting all the time with parents, or go to shooting ranges. But if that kid takes the gun and goes out a kills somebody with it, the parent should be liable for the actions. Just like if you supply alcohol to minors. You are responsible. 
And why in the hell can’t have background checks to make sure someone isn’t a wack job?
 

Simple common sense. Is that to damn much to ask of the idiots in congress. I guess so, sadly!

I agree with the back ground checks, cool off periods and other reforms that limit this from happening again. I say limit because it will never be stopped completely. 

 

The fact it was an AR15 really has nothing to do with what happened.  As close as this person was to the people, they could have completed the same carnage with a handgun or pump shot gun. You can drive into a crowd of people,  you can make pipe bombs or whatever comes to mind to harm or kill many people.  When a lone person is determined to take lives of those who are suspecting and unable to protect themselves, it is very hard to prevent it from happening.  But we should do everything we can to limit it. 

 

Although it is extremely  hard to do, emotions need to be shelved when making decisions. After all, it's the person acting that makes a rifle, shot gun, car or other devices dangerous.  The devices sitting idol are no threat.

I agree caddieman, if that were the case, I am sure the parents would pay much more attention to where their guns happen to be and probably be more attentive to making sure they STAY locked up until they are needed.  Don't know what you are talking about with regard to background checks. Just purchased a pistol a few weeks ago and had to fill out all the required paperwork (all on a computer) for background check and it had to come back approved before the gun shop would even consider the sale. So perhaps the solution you seek comes from the authorities doing the job they are being paid to do. If we could surveil the social media of the Diaper Head terrorist to catch them before the committed a heinous crime after 9/11, then for DAMN sure we can find out what the nut job teens are doing and saying, especially on these dark demonic sites. BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE, there are states that have the toughest gun laws in the country and they are the places with the highest incidences of gun violence. So pass ALL the laws you want, but if you are not going to enforce them then you are urinating into the wind. AAnd we all know that the whole objective of the Rats is to eventually get to the point the where YES they will come for our guns. And they will use ANY means that serves their end game. However, I don't think they will like the results, when the populace of our nation gets wind of the gun roundup. Just saying.

Over 18 he is not a minor, parents aren't responsible. 

Maybe the LEOs should have flagged him after all the bb gun incidents shooting people. Maybe the doors to the school should have been locked.

Maybe the school cop should have been where he was supposed to be.

Hey bud, I can tell your upset  ( why shouldn't anyone be)  but I don't think age , at least 19, is the issue. Our military is made up of young men and women who are 18 and 19 and are very responsible and stable. The issue is and always will be that people on ang age that are mentally ill, unstable or angry  that get there hands on weapons with dangerous intentions.

Young military men and women are totally different. They have been schooled, trained and mentored on all sorts of advanced weapons. The run of the mill 18 to 20 year olds have no business having an assault rifle. The majority are not mature enough to handle it. And yes mentally is a major issue.

"Background checks" are in place at this moment.

Regardless of what the MSM is saying.

The gun, ammo and or body armor is not the issue/problem.

If you buy on "the street", then no "background check" is needed. To buy legitimately, an AFT "background check" is required.

It "appears" that these AR-15's were purchased legally.

Example; Recently, I purchased a .22 caliber level action rifle that was manufactured in 1925 (almost 100 years old) and had to go thru the procedure of an ATF "background check" because, I like old guns and history.

In addition, I have an ATF issued license allowing me to purchase such a firearm, however, I still had to go thru the procedure of the "background check" at the local gun shop (FFL).

 

Just sayin' ...................

The left has been looking for something that might give them some traction for the midterms...

This might be the issue....

 

There are currently 15 million  AR 15's in the US...

These are military grade weapons....and most every case of a mass shooting has involved an AR... 

 

I believe we will see legislation banning the future sales, and construction of these weapons for the general public... with the exception of those with a built in limited magazine load of approximately 7 rounds...

Given the current political climate.....a bill like this could pass.....

Bigwave has a good point that nobody wants to talk about. He didn't buy any of this someone got these for him. I too would like to know how a 18 year old that's broke living with his grandmother who has no money, his parents are broke, how did he get all this

These are not assault rifles. They do not have the three shot / autofire select on them. 

I can kill more people with a car than a gun. 

Did they ban airplanes when they flew into the towers?

Did they ban cars and trucks when people have driven into crowds?

Did they ban knives after stabbings?

No, this is attack on the Second A.

You cannot control a population that has access to self protection.

When you think you have to bury or hide your guns to keep them that is the time you need them. 

18 year olds are considered adults under the law. Don't like it, change the law don’t regulate the object.

Sorry caddie man, but you comment on 18 year olds and weapons is :bs:!!  My dad gave me a shotgun when I was 12, sent me into the woods to hunt alone. After I proved I could handle that task we then started hunting together along with my brother and cousins. My point?  Perhaps parental responsibility is the answer (not only in this case but in many societal problems we face today). We have become a nation of soft p---ies, lazy and apathetic to the world around us. We have stood by and allowed social media to warp our brains and the brains of our kids to the point no one wants to do squat to help themselves. We have become dependent on our corrupt government to solve problems that they themselves created. Most of our younger generation no NOTHING of our history and so could give 2 shiites about the one document that insures their freedom. Our Constitution. Make no mistake, the Rats are gonna use some tragedy like this every time it happens to try to confiscate our guns. You CANNOT build a One World Order/Government and allow citizens to retain ANY freedoms or powers of self determination. Biden's agenda is the acceleration of the demise of our great nation, in order to reach the globalist's goals that they stated this past week in Davos. They must go balls to the wall, because Nov is fast approaching and unless they can lock our nation down again with some pandemic/crisis so we have more mail-in ballots and the Rats can steal another election, they are toast. But perhaps you like the future a One World globalist control order brings to the table caddieman. And how do you feel about $10+ gasoline? It's coming. How about food shortages caddieman? It's coming and I predict probably by the end of the year. And again, as horrible as that shooting in TX was, as the facts come out we will find that many balls were dropped in this tragedy, and many that were responsible for the safety and protection of our kids failed in the mission. So stop the "it was the AR's fault let's take them away from EVERYONE" BS, and stop politicizing this tragedy and get down to some non-political common sense solutions, that make actually help and solve problems such as this one.
