Iraqi pilots announce a strike early next month

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Pilots Association announced on Thursday that Iraqi pilots will go on strike for several hours early next month if the Ministry of Transport does not respond to their demands.

 

And a letter from the Pilots Association addressed to Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, received by Shafaq News Agency, stated, "Due to the circumstances that the Iraqi Airways company and its crews are going through with ill-considered decisions that affect international safety standards and their field of work, which requires a lot of accuracy and safety, it was decided to sit in By the crews of Iraqi Airways at Baghdad International Airport, Nineveh Hall, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at (8 to 11) in the morning, and not to carry out any flight during the sit-in until all the demands of the crews of the Iraqi Airways Company are implemented.

 

The association added that its demands are as follows:

 

1 - Immediately instruct the Minister of Transport to cancel the recommendations of the committee formed in the book No. 28235/7244 on 22/12/2222, which suspended contracting on the (PSS) system to avoid the damage that leads to the permanent suspension of Iraqi Airways from work on 28/2/2022 

 

2 - Instructing the Integrity and Judiciary Commission to investigate all contracts concluded between Iraqi Airways and other companies, such as the MASIL contract, the ration contract, the Atlas contract, the powers of the general agents with regard to ticket sales) because of the administrative corruption contained in these contracts that will lead to the bankruptcy of the national carrier (Co. Iraqi Airways ).

 

3- Return all the rights of the national carrier in relation to its rights as a sole national carrier, including, but not limited to, the destinations owned by it and which were donated to the rest of the companies - -. . As Fly Baghdad, Qatar Airways and Fly Dubai due to the intervention of influential parties.

 

 4 - Returning the company's money that is in the custody of the agents contracting with the company, which is estimated. (tens of millions of dollars) 

 

5- Investigation of all legal and financial issues that burdened the company, including problems with agents, which led to the closure of vital destinations that were profitable for Iraqi Airways, for example:

 

Baghdad - Copenhagen line 

 

Erbil Line - Kobenhaken

 

 - Baghdad - Stockholm line

 

 Najaf Al-Ashraf line - Dubai 

 

Erbil Line - Tehran 

 

Sulaymaniyah line - Tehran 

 

Sulaymaniyah - Istanbul line

 

 Hajj and Umrah trips and other important lines that generate financial profits for the company 

 

6- Payment of all entitlements to Iraqi Airways crews from flying hours for the month of 12 and 1 and accumulating overnight entitlements from the year 2018 until now.

 

7- Not to interfere in the decisions to train and qualify Iraqi Airways crews and employees for the purpose of keeping pace with the development taking place in the field of global aviation and not to prejudice in any way this training and the requirements of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority and the International Civil Aviation Organization 

 

8- Return all work expenses that were paid by the company, such as the medical examination and the flight license. 

 

9- Re-working the uniforms for all Iraqi Airways crews, which is one of the standards of discipline for international airlines. 

 

10 - Returning the Aviation Operations Department to the previous building 

 

11 - Canceling some offices of the useless Iraqi Airways company 

 

12 - Providing material and moral support by the Iraqi government to lift the European ban on Iraqi Airways

From here, we announce our demand to the governmental supervisory authorities from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Financial Supervision Bureau and the Integrity Commission to open all corruption files and punish the negligent people who caused this destruction to the official national carrier. International laws and applicable in all countries of the world as a whole to restore the correct general approach to the management of a profitable company that had saved $ 450 million to the state treasury in 2015.
We would also like to note that all airlines in the world are managed by an Executive General Manager who chairs the company's board of directors and who has all the necessary powers to make this company a success in line with the international laws in force.
But what we see today is only a fictitious form of the company’s board of directors without will. It cannot change the least employee as a unit or division official, for example, in addition to changing the negligent in his work. All this as a result of ministerial and partisan interventions in the company’s policies. The biggest example of this is the multiplicity of aircraft types in the company. Which is usually agreed upon from outside the concerned authorities, and the signature and approval are binding on the Board of Directors, which burdens the company, as is the case in the aforementioned contracts. 
And there are many other things that cannot be summarized in this article. 
Therefore, we resolved to be one hand, united to save the national carrier, which carries the banner of (God is great) with it for all the countries of the world, and which bleeds our hearts and pains us to see it dying before our eyes. And in front of the whole world, we must be resistant to the falsehood and injustice that befell our company and our employees, and we all hope that our efforts will result in a comprehensive and general review of all the fraud and destruction that the company suffers from for the purpose of its bankruptcy.
 What our company is currently going through requires a sincere and serious stance from our government and material and moral support in order for the national carrier to regain its health and its position among other air carriers through the proposals submitted by the pilots.

2. Issuing an official letter from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers confirming that the only national carrier, the Carrier Flag, is the Iraqi Airways Company, and the rest of the carriers are local.

3. Giving full powers to the Director General of Iraqi Airways and its board of directors.

4. Reviewing all contracts concluded with Iraqi Airways, such as MASIL, catering, and others, and canceling or amending them to serve the interest of Iraqi Airways.

5. Exempting the legal, commercial, financial, contracts, auditing and subsistence directors for their waste of public money.

6. Return the exclusive rights of the Iraqi Airways company in terms of ground handling, catering, fuel and others specified by the company's law and the circulars to this.

7. Work to recover all debts of the Iraqi Airways Company owed by agents, government agencies and others, which exceed 63,000,000 sixty three million dollars.

8. Immediate payment of all financial dues to airline crews, including flight hours and overnight allowances, from 2018 until the end of 2021.

9. Legal guarantees not to prejudice the future financial allocations and not to prejudice or punish any of the crew members of Iraqi Airways.
