The American Embassy in Baghdad announces an auction to sell its furniture

{Local: Al Furat News} The United States Embassy in Baghdad announced today, Wednesday, the opening of an online auction to sell furniture and household appliances.

The embassy said in a statement, "The auction will open during the period from January 30 to February 6, 2022. It will be available to US embassy employees and the nation." 

The statement added, "The online auction is for seven containers of redundant furniture and household appliances and can be viewed on the embassy's auction website in Baghdad on the Internet (state.gov). Each lot has a capacity of 40 feet and has a dedicated number, detailed description and condition. Current items with pictures. The collections consist of a variety of furniture and appliances, including but not limited to sofas, double benches, dining chairs, tables, wooden furniture and refrigerators." 

He explained, "Interested bidders will submit their bids to bid on the entire container and its contents to be sold in US dollars on an "as is" basis. All sales are final and there is no return or refund for purchased items. This auction will be conducted exclusively online. Site visits are not permitted before the auction starts.

Its criminal, how these U.S. government employes, congress & senate waste taxpayer monies! They know that they can just go steal more money from the taxpayers! If you dont pay your so called fair share of taxes, the irs will either put you in jail or confiscate your home, money, business or anything they want, that you have! Biden and his hynch men need to be arrested and their money taken away, for this criminal retreat out of Afghanistan this past summer. They left billions and billions of dollars there for the taliban terrorist. This is the problem I have with Taxes! These people need to be held accountable for criminal behavior!! JMHO!

Is it still in Iraq or back in the US? I was thinking about the shipping rate to get it here and given shipping issues, maybe you'd see it by 2023. 😆

Sounds like a helluva lot of furniture and refrigerators to me, Seven 40 foot containers.  Even though they say "redundant furniture and appliances" 

 

Sounds like ALL the furniture and appliances, not just "redundant furniture and appliances" -

Seven 40' containers.  Are they selling the building after they get rid of the furniture and appliances?  Are we closing the largest embassy in the world?  What is going on here????

Floridian, their not closing the embassy their just remodeling. If you could see the size of the embassy you would know that 7 containers of furniture is not a drop in the bucket. 

I worked around some of these state department guys while I was there and couldn't believe the perks these guys get. When I saw where they wanted their clothes dry cleaned and pressed was when I just about blew a gasket. In the middle of the desert and combat zone you're requesting your clothes to be professional laundered, unbelievable....
