, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iran for Modern Technologies, Mehran Mahramani, revealed that the electronic riyal will enter the Iranian market on a trial basis soon.
According to the Iranian official, the currency will be launched under the name "encrypted riyal" and will be used in public exchanges and will be available to people in the digital space.
Last August, the Iranian Council of Ministers decided to use digital currencies to import goods, and the Council said that the goal is that people who want to use cryptocurrencies to import goods will not face difficulties.
Earlier this month, the Iranian Ministry of Industry and Trade said it had agreed with the Central Bank to adopt the use of digital currencies in foreign trade.
According to an official in the Iranian Ministry, the move is expected to achieve a growth in non-oil exports by 10%.
