The commander of the Iranian Quds Force visits Iraq coinciding with talks to form the new government

Official sources in Iraq published pictures of Ismail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Najaf, yesterday evening.

Qaani's presence comes amid the failure of talks between Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement, and Hadi al-Amiri, head of the Fatah coalition, and a representative of the Iranian-backed Shiite Coordination Council to form a government.

At the same time, the Iraqi Federal Court is scheduled to consider the complaint of these groups about the parliament meeting and the election of committee heads on Wednesday.

The tensions came after grenades were thrown at the offices and homes of Sunni and Kurdish MPs in Baghdad during the past two days.

And earlier, Iraqi media quoted informed sources as saying that a delegation from al-Sadr and Iranian-backed groups would travel to Tehran separately.

In another development, according to official sources, Mustafa Al-Kazemi signed an order to expel the forces of the 9th Brigade of the Popular Mobilization from Nineveh Governorate, which is the closest area to Erbil.

From now on, the Iraqi army forces are supposed to take over security and control of these areas.

Last year, the commander of the 9th Brigade accused Washington of terrorism, corruption and violating human rights.

This organization had angered the local population and the government for years by setting up many checkpoints, collecting taxes and fees from merchants, and applying pressure, without regard to government laws.

Iraq doesn't need visits from this group - or any others from Iran.

They need to get the western and eastern countries in asap. May help make them less susceptible to Iraqi influences. These countries would of course bring along their intel groups (something all countries do) which would make it easier to ferret out the bad guys - once you figure out where the bar is for bad guys in the ME.

Shafaq News/ A source from within the coordination framework revealed that the expected meeting of the latter with Al-Sadr depends on Al-Amiri's return from Erbil and the results achieved.

While another source reported that the leader of the Sadrist movement informed the commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Ismail Qaani, of his position regarding the State of Law coalition and its leader, Nuri al-Maliki.

The source told Shafak News Agency; "The commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Ismail Qaani, met late last night in Al-Hanana with the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, and discussed with him the unification of positions within the Shiite political house."

The source added; "Al-Sadr informed Qaani of his refusal for the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, to be part of the new Iraqi government."

He pointed out that "Qaani's meeting with the leaders of the coordination framework is still going on until this moment in the house of the leader of the victory coalition Haider al-Abadi, and the discussion continues until the moment about what al-Sadr wants from the leaders of the framework."

Another source told Shafak News Agency, "The political equation will change its scales and will turn the political table upside down if the expected meeting between the coordination framework and al-Sadr is achieved and the two parties agree to rearrange the Shiite house again."

He added that "the official in charge of the Iraqi-Iranian file (Qaani) who is currently in Iraq, called on the forces of the coordination framework to adopt flexibility and acceptance of what al-Sadr will propose, even if this is at the expense of personal or partisan interest in order to achieve the public interest for the whole of Iraq."

source saw; Qaani achieved even a small part of the objectives of his visit, which is to break the deadlock between the framework forces and the leader of the Sadrist movement, and it is hoped that a decisive strategic meeting will take place between the Shiite forces after the return of the head of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi Al-Amiri from Erbil, because the Shiite forces are keen to maintain the strategic relationship with allies, specifically the Kurds."

And he added, "The proposed scenario and the closest to implementation is that the representatives of the state of law (33) without their leader join the alliance of conquest so that the title of the state of law does not remain within the new Shiite alliance, if things are done as planned and that the representatives of the state of law will have a share in the formation of the next government according to their electoral entitlement.

He pointed out that "the entire political equation will change, including changing the parliament's presidency, and the Sunni leaders' struggle may return again over the position of parliament's presidency," noting that "the coming hours will be laden with accelerating events, even if this is postponed to tomorrow."

Qaani fails to convince al-Sadr and the frame is preparing a plan to abandon al-Maliki alone without his deputies  ...."Al-Sadr informed Qaani of his refusal for the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, to be part of the new Iraqi government."

I'm hoping Sadr hold to his guns after he visits Teheran..!

The visit of the commander of the Iranian Quds forces, is a sign of desperation.

They know they’re losing political control over Iraq.

Al Sadr with the Kurds and the Sunnis are blocking any attempt of Al Maliki

and the leaders of the coordination framework to form a majority government.

The Iranian are going to start targeting political figures.

Go Iraq

Go Al Sadr

Go sovereignty

Go freedom

The signs are present everywhere! Barrage of rockets showing their willingness to intimidate and their displeasure with political movement. Chess moves by Maliki and others along with physical presence of  this Quds force commander. They are desperate pulling every trick they can. They are consistently and terminally power hungry control freaks!

Go Sadr!

The Quds force commander is there is intimidate.  No question about it.  Have him hit by a drone strike so they stop sending Iranian stooges over to Iraq.  Maliki is fighting for his life.  He will kill anyone standing in his way to save himself.  Once he is not part of the GoI, it’s open season on him.   Noose time for his neck.

 Baghdad: Omar Abdul Latif

The coordinating framework ruled out that the visit of the Iranian Quds Force commander, Ismail Qaani, and the official in charge of the foreign relations file in the Lebanese Hezbollah, Muhammad Kawtharani, to the country, had anything to do with the convergence of views between them and the Sadrist bloc.
A member of the House of Representatives from the State of Law coalition, Bahaa Al-Din Al-Nouri, told Al-Sabah: "There is a rapprochement between the framework and the Sadrist bloc," describing the visit of the head of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi Al-Amiri to Muqtada Al-Sadr in Najaf as "positive."
And regarding the visit of Qaani and Kawtharani, Al-Nouri stated that “Al-Amiri’s visit to Najaf and Erbil to bring the views closer preceded this visit by Iranian and Lebanese officials,” ruling out “there is any relationship between their visits and the rapprochement between the political blocs, especially since they have never met with any bloc since their arrival until now, and the government must The Iraqi government should answer the reasons for this visit, as they may be on a mission of their own.”
As for the political analyst, Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ilah; He affirmed the rejection of foreign interference in the formation of the Iraqi government.
Abdul-Ilah told Al-Sabah that "there is no omission of all the steps that speak of a rapprochement between the Sadrist bloc and the coordination framework, but mediation, negotiations, guarantees and mutual concessions do not always stop at the last hours, as they may have a very big role in bringing views closer."
And he indicated that "Al-Sadr and Al-Amiri discussed between them the basics and elements of government formation, and the differences between the framework and the Sadrist bloc, as the former wanted a national majority government with the participation of all, while the Sadrist bloc wanted a political majority, but it excluded parts of the framework in order to turn into a nucleus for the formation of the opposition." ".
He pointed out that "any internal interference through initiatives that may be undertaken by the Sunni or Kurdish parties, or both, is welcome to bring the views of the Shiite house closer, while foreign interventions are rejected and that Mr. Sadr and the political forces are talking that the stage requires that there be no interference, and that the government It will be formed with Iraqi components and its scope according to (neither eastern nor western) it will not be dependent on this issue, and this is an important point that the current is still emphasizing in its dialogues, understandings, meetings or negotiations.
The leader in the coordination framework, Aid al-Hilali, said earlier: "The meeting with the commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Ismail Qaani, and the leaders of the framework in Baghdad, aims to bring the views of the Shiite component closer."
Iranian sources quoted that "the delegation headed by Qaani will urge everyone to understand and reach results that serve all parties and before that serve the Iraqi people, who hope to improve their political, living and economic conditions."

Shafaq News/ A source close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, reported the details of the private discussions that took place on Monday evening, between al-Sadr and the commander of the Quds Force in the Revolutionary Guards, Ismail Qaani.

These talks are the second of their kind between al-Sadr and Qaani within hours, after he arrived in Iraq on Sunday.

The second talks came shortly after intense discussions held by Qaani with the leaders of the Coordination Framework, in the presence of leaders of the armed Shiite factions.

The source in Al-Sadr's office - Al-Hanana - told Shafaq News Agency, "Qaani came to Al-Sadr with the title of finding a solution to the Shiite-Shiite differences, and rearranging the Shiite house according to the political equations approved since 2003, but Al-Sadr rejected the scenario of forming a consensus government that adopts political custom in distributing positions and portfolios. ".

He added that "Qaani was also unable to change al-Sadr's position on some leaders of the framework, specifically his refusal - al-Sadr - to ease its requirements, especially those related to the removal of the leader of the state of law Nuri al-Maliki from the new government, in addition to his emphasis on referring the files of financial and security corruption to the concerned authorities."

He pointed out that al-Sadr did not object to the participation of deputies from the rule of law and other forces.

And he continued, "Amid these events and (Qaani)'s failure to achieve what he came for, it may happen that the expected meeting between the framework forces with Al-Sadr will not take place, and the Iranian official confirmed that he will return to the ball and visit Najaf in the coming days in a new attempt to convince Al-Sadr of the necessity of uniting the house. Shiites and overlook the differences that can be overcome.

This comes in the midst of the failure of the head of the Fatah Alliance, Hadi al-Amiri, to reach understandings to form the new government with Kurdish leaders, after extensive meetings he held in Erbil, which he arrived Monday morning,

Al-Amiri met with the Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and the President of the Regional Government, Masrour Barzani.

A well-informed political associate in the Kurdistan Region told Shafaq News Agency that Al-Amiri could not reach a specific agreement with Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani regarding the new government in Baghdad.

He added that, during his meetings, al-Amiri proposed the name of Haider al-Abadi, a compromise candidate for prime minister, but that was rejected by Barzani.

And Al-Amiri also put forward a proposal that the new government be made up of 50% of the ministers affiliated with the Sadrist movement, in exchange for two Kurdish ministers who also have the share of the Presidency of the Republic and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and that the rest of the ministries be divided between the Sunnis and the coordination framework, noting that this proposal was also met with Barzani’s rejection. .

And he indicated that Barzani notified al-Amiri of the necessity of a Shiite consensus on any government combination before it was presented to the Kurds.

Earlier in the day, a source in the coordination framework told Shafaq News Agency, the framework's attempt to push both Haider Al-Abadi or Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi as settlement candidates, in front of a mini-list with Al-Sadr that includes Mustafa Al-Kazemi with Sadrist figures.

Shafak News has learned that the comprehensive coordinating framework of Shiite forces is trying to persuade Al-Sadr to form a "settlement government", in the event that entry into a unified Shiite bloc that includes all parties fails, and this proposal enjoys the support of specific Iranian parties.

However, the private discussions between al-Sadr and the coordination framework did not reach a specific agreement, in addition to al-Sadr's rejection of the framework's attempts to include Nuri al-Maliki in the new government synthesis.

However, Al-Sadr may not mind that representatives from the state of law without their leader Al-Maliki join the Al-Fateh coalition, to participate in the new government, according to private leaks obtained by Shafak News.

This is taking place, in conjunction with the arrival of the Quds Force Commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Ismail Qaani, on Sunday evening, to Iraq, to bring closer views on the file of forming the new Iraqi government, and to work to unify positions within the Shiite political house, after the differences that recently engulfed the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement.

Great news! I like the way Sadr is not getting bullied into keeping Maliki in power :twothumbs:

That is exactly why that Quds commander was there.  He tried and failed.  Sadr has a militia that will fight these Iranian stooges.  Sadr can’t be bullied or intimidated.
