After all, it’s Iraq. Delay, Postponement & Crisis OH MY !

It’s the Iraq we’ve come to love.

It looks like some results/votes are determined to be invalid since they were collected after two voting stations were supposed to be closed.   Big deal.  That shouldn’t change anything.  Potato Head grasping at straws so his neck  stays out of that noose.

Shafaq News / A number of winning independent candidates from Basra Governorate held a press conference on Saturday, in which they announced their rejection of the judiciary's decision to exclude a number of them and escalate others affiliated with political blocs, as they considered it a process of satisfying the blocs "that does not extend to electoral democracy or transparency in the work of the Electoral Commission." .

The judiciary had announced the victory of eight candidates from the losing Shiite political forces in the elections, after it audited the results of the recent parliamentary elections.

Yesterday, Friday, the Coordinating Committee for Demonstrations and Sit-ins Rejecting the Election Results praised the Iraqi judiciary's decision after its ruling that eight candidates from the losing Shiite political forces won the elections.

The Electoral Commission justified the cancellation of the results of some polling stations and stations by saying that it "was based on what the judiciary sees in accordance with the law, and did not annul them because of fraud, because the process took place according to technical procedures, and whoever believes that canceling the results of stations came because of fraud is mistaken."

Regarding the above, the winning candidate, Mustafa Sanad, said during a press conference attended by Shafak News Agency, that "the commission was supposed to announce the election results after 24 hours, but it was delayed for many days," noting that "people in the commission verbally informed him to announce the official results tomorrow, But the Alliance of Iraqi Independents was surprised by the judicial decision to exclude two of their candidates, namely (Haitham Al-Fahd) in Basra, from Al-Zubayr district, and the candidate (Amir Al-Mamouri) from Babylon, because of complaints against them from the court, which were accepted.

Sanad added, "The stations that were challenged were well studied, as when the votes of these five stations in Al-Zubayr district are canceled, the votes of the candidate Haitham Al-Fahd will fall 185 votes, and from the challenger Rafiq Al-Salihi 21 votes, so that the votes of the latter rise from the first by 14 votes, because the difference between them It was all counting, manual and official counting, and through the tapes, with 150 votes."

He pointed out that "this story was understood by the independents when the political forces began after their joint meetings, the last of which was their meeting with the representative of the United Nations, Jenin Plasschaert."

For his part, candidate Haitham Al-Fahd said, during the conference, that "what happened is a consolidation, not an electoral process, between the political forces to equalize the balance of those forces, and the evidence for this is that the commission said the final word that the match in counting and sorting is high with the electronic one is completely identical."

He explained that "the procedures and options that will be followed are many, and the first and the closest is to go to Baghdad today and appeal this decision and take the legal course, and if it does not work, every incident will have a talk."

 Baghdad: Omar Abdul Latif

When writing the constitution, the legislator neglected to set a time limit for the Federal Court's approval of the election results, but expectations indicate that the next week will witness its passage, in light of exceptions that may threaten some winners of parliament membership due to the presence of lawsuits against them.
Electoral researcher Rafid al-Zaidi told Al-Sabah that Article 92 of the constitution specified the mechanism for forming the Federal Court, while Article 93 specified its duties, including ratification of the results of the parliamentary elections as a national matter that concerns all Iraqis.
Al-Zaidi added that the constitutional article did not specify a time to ratify the results, but through previous experiences it is not expected that it will be delayed more than a week or 10 days because the function of the Federal Court is to ratify only.
Al-Zaidi promised that the requests of some political blocs to cancel the elections are unconstitutional and illegal, explaining that the Federal Court does not have the authority to cancel the elections and its role is only to certify the results or not. He added that after the ratification, the President of the Republic invites the House of Representatives to meet within 15 days, and in the session, the Speaker and his two deputies must be elected.
 Results.
Al-Zaidi suggested that the court would exclude a number of the winning names from ratification due to the existence of pending and judicially unresolved lawsuits against them, as happened in the 2014 elections, stressing the need for the representative to be not required by any judicial authority when entering the House of Representatives and that his position be sound in terms of Legal.

Information / Baghdad ..
The leader of the State of Law coalition, Kateh Al-Rikabi, revealed, on Saturday, that there is pressure on the Federal Court to maintain and ratify the election results sent to it without taking into account the appeals submitted to it, stressing that the court will not care about those pressures.
Al-Rikabi said in a statement to "The Information", that "the State of Law coalition and the rest of the political forces in the coordinating framework have high confidence in the members of the Federal Court," revealing that "there is pressure exerted on the members of the Federal Court from well-known parties regarding maintaining and approving the election results sent to it." Without considering the appeals submitted to it, but we are sure that the Federal Court will not heed those pressures.”
Al-Rikabi added, "The Federal Court is not bound by a specific time to announce whether or not it ratifies the election results, and it may not partially ratify the election results, as happened in the 2018 elections."
A member of the Political Bureau of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Saad al-Saadi, revealed in a previous statement to “Al-Maalouma” details of what took place in a meeting of the forces of the “coordinating framework” at the home of the President of the Supreme Islamic Council Sheikh Hammam Hammoudi in Baghdad, noting that the meeting renewed its support for the demonstrators and sit-ins rejecting the results.
