umbertino
From their best (IMVHO) album "Deep Purple In Rock" 1970 ( magical year for music ...Stunning albums were created...) All below songs are performed by the classic / epic somehow DP lineup ... Deep Purple In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head, Who Do We Think We Are, Made In Japan (live) albums Ritchie Blackmore – guitar Jon Lord (RIP) – keyboards, organ Ian Paice – drums, percussion Ian Gillan – lead vocals Roger Glover – bass This lineup ( the second one in the band's history) then crumbled after a few years mainly because there was a bad fight going on for quite some time between (great) vocalist Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore ( acknowledged by many as an excellent guitarist but also crazy like a horse) They had gotten to the point of beating each other in a few occasions mainly due to Blackmore's temper........ Can't recall exactly...But one of those 2 (or both maybe) then left the band https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Purple Edited December 15, 2021 by umbertino

umbertino
A great track imo....One of their most known and best ...Contains the long and legendary Blackmore's guitar ride (besides the great Jon Lord's organ sound and usual special Gillan's singing) When I first heard this one at age 13 (1970)...It did change the world perception ( thundered on my way to Damascus sorta) I had until then...Loved it right away.... umbertino
Another extremely good track imo...One of my faves Ian Paice (called little Ian in order not to confuse him with Gillan) - great drummer...Much underrated

umbertino
In 2020 this album turned 50 ........Came out in one of the most graced/blessed years for modern music....1970.....A year where lots and lots of masterpieces were created (Santana -Abraxas, Gravy Train, Emerson, Lake &Palmer, Quatermass, John McLaughlin-Devotion and many more)....Because for some artists / bands the main motive for making music was not only economical (ie.making lots of money and that was it)...They ( some at least) had really something to say, something to express ...They had creativity and a good few of them had also fantastic, genius-like creativity, sharp intuition that I'm grateful they decided to share with all of us....JMVHO Edited December 15, 2021 by umbertino
