Civil Status and Passports announces its statistics within a week

The Director of Passport Affairs in the Ministry of Interior, Major General Ahmed Al-Azzawi, told the Iraqi News Agency "INA", that the ministry has reached the last stage in contracting to complete the electronic passport, as the Passports Directorate provided the technical study and all the requirements in the Directorate of Systems and Information in the Ministry.

And he indicated that the electronic passport differs greatly from its predecessors, as the first page will be plastic and contain the holder's information that cannot be falsified, according to a certain system and conditions.

He pointed out that the classification of the passport globally does not depend on its validity, but on the entry features granted to the country and on the commercial and political movement.

He added, that an Iraqi citizen can currently enter 28 countries without an entry visa, pointing out that South Korea recently allowed Iraqis to enter it provided they hold diplomatic passports, while Cyprus allowed entry to those who have a passport or a diplomatic passport.

He pointed out that the political and economic situation is constantly improving and helps to advance the Iraqi passport.

Al-Kaabi stated that "the systems for issuing electronic passports for Iraqis abroad are present in most embassies and consulates."  


He attributed "the reason for the delay in issuing the passport abroad, to the lack of printers in some embassies, which forces the passport to be printed in Iraq and sent to the citizen."  


And regarding the issuance of the national card, Al-Kaabi confirmed that "issuing the unified national card has reached advanced stages, because work on the project began several years ago and in all provinces except for some simple departments in Mosul," explaining that "the total of citizens who review the national card issuance departments on the day." It amounts to 250 thousand references, with 500 to 1000 references for each department, which includes aspects related to cases of marriage, divorce and birth data."  


He continued, "There was a delay in disbursing the cards as a result of the existing shortage, but during the past two weeks we implemented a campaign and accomplished many unified cards in Baghdad, whether in Karkh or Rusafa," noting that "during the next few days, all unified cards will be completed in all governorates." .  


He pointed out that "the electronic reservation has been lifted, except for the review for the first time, but in other cases, you do not need a reservation, but a direct review," explaining that "all ages are included."
