I just believe God's creation is never stagnant. What He puts into motion continues until, like the ocean against the shore, it is meant to go no further.

Good question though right? Lol

I thought it was a good question. I enjoy thinking of things like that also. You should write a coffee book table and fill it with your questions and surmisings.  Give people something to ponder.  :)

My last thought on this....

Somehow we all exist...was it a higher deity...or just by chance?

We all have free choice...we can believe in God...Mankind...or even skittles and buttercups.

That choice might involve the question of the life of an unborn vs. an abortion....

Perhaps socialism or capitalism....

So a couple of Atheists have expressed their position on their  beliefs here...they have studied "religion" and that is their conclusion.....

Best wishes to them going forward.....( and yes we are very like minded in many areas and I do appreciate the postings they make)

You might consider when looking death in the face... taking those last gasps of breath that you will still have that free choice.....right up to the end...CL

Ha....I see you Miraj...dumping those ruby's on perfectly reasonable posts created by members who add value to the site....

Why the Administration allows you to linger is beyond me.....

Oh well....go back to your corner and put that dunce cap back on.....and feel free to neg me all you want....

You are correct.  Hell doesnt exist.  It isnt taught in the Bible.  The ones that want to believe in hell are psychotic.  Serial killer material if you will.  Real psychopaths.  They read into the Bible what they want it to say.  Your logic is very sound.  I ask them all the time what burns in a hell?  If they say the body, well, how can it burn forever?  I think a body can burn up inside of a minute or two.  IF they say the soul, well...ezekial 18:4 says a soul can die.  Therefore the soul is not immortal to be able to burn in a hell.

Dont worry.  God did not create a burning hell.  When the bible talks of fire, it is trying to convey what people back then knew about what fire does.  IT burns things up.  They turn to ash and are not around anymore.  Period.  So when it says someone will be cast into it, it means they will be destroyed.  Their life is over for them.  It is NOT an eternal torturing and suffering like these wackos want you to believe.

What did God tell Adam and Eve would be the punishment for their sin?  An everlasting hellfire and damnation?  No.  He simply said they would die.

PHM, that's spot on from many parts of the bible. It's a shame you got four rubies for that. I guess many like the idea of eternal torture.

Off subject but,

If the universe is always expanding,  what is it expanding into? And if the universe is expanding then it must have an edge.  If it has an edge the it is truly not infinite.

Is it expanding into another realm created

by God?

Thoughts?

There is no known edge, it just may be infinite. Most galaxies are actually going further form us with the exception of the Andromeda galaxy. Another question is that maybe we're still in an expansive period and it will eventually slow and reverse... Who knows, but great question Cranman.

Well you just pulled the rug out from under AdamHenry's malevolent God theory, therefore he has no reason not to return to Him. Since there is no hell to torment you with gnashing of teeth but you are simply destroyed and you cease to exist then AdamHenry can now have his Come to Jesus moment.

No hell. No malevolence. In his way of believing that means no excuse not to turn back to God who would be all loving and not overly punishing.

You sure didn't pull the rug out of anything at all. Your religion is pure mythology to me. I don't believe there is a god to "come back to".

You honestly think you are in a position to judge the one who gives you your breath and say with that very same breath I don't believe in you because you are not nice. You are malevolent because my life perspective tells me so

On the bolded part, I'm sorry I triggered you by not believing in your boyfriend. You can see me any way you want, I don't care 🤣

My creators are my parents, and I started breathing at birth because I'm a mammal. There is no mythological being that magically gave me breath.

And I sure will judge a book written by men in order to control others. It's funny how much god changed from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Seems changes had to be made to keep the believers. 🤷‍♂️

It's too bad you can't have an intelligent conversation without being childish, calling names, or trying to be insulting. When you seek to bring someone else down by belittling them you only go lower yourself. We can be respectful of each other while disagreeing with one another. Personally attacking the person only says you aren't confident enough or intelligent enough to make your points or you somehow feel threatened, so you resort to comments like..."not believing in your boyfriend."

Or maybe you think that's an intelligent retort.

@AdamHenry, you have a right to your opinion, and I respect that.  Everyone on DV who has stated their religious views has had that right.  After all these years, we can pretty well tell where people stand.  I imagine many are tired of nearly every thread these days being about religion or politics . . . a product of Adam Montana making this a site for community building.  We have some on here who if you disagree with them, you are labeled a hater.  That is certainly not the Love of God on display.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I really wish the 'vain arguments' would stop.  Make our points and move on.  I don't think in all the threads that have to do with religion that one person has said 'wow, you were right, I was wrong.'  I remember when @learning all i canpoured her heart out trying to convince us of her views.  When we were not converted, she left the site. That is sad.

Ok, my coffee is ready.  On to face the day.  GO RV.

Sometimes I really believe that the reason certain people post, especially in these subject matter threads, is for the sole purpose of derailing the thread.

But that's just my opinion.

Not true. That was me quoting you as if you are telling God He is Malevolent. I wasn't saying you were. That would not make any sense. Sorry you took it that way

And his response to me.....god can do anything....Um, yeah, that is not a debating point.  If God can do anything....WHY did he write the Bible?  It is the poor mans debate tactic.  They cannot reason on the scriptures, so they make dumb statements like that.  Titus 1:2 says God CANNOT do something.  So the Bible proves him wrong yet again.

[Luk 16:19-31 NASB20] 19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, enjoying himself in splendor every day. 20 "And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 and longing to be fed from the [scraps] which fell from the rich man's table; not only [that,] the dogs also were coming and licking his sores. 22 "Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's arms; and the rich man also died and was buried. 23 "And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms. 24 "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.' 25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. 26 'And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set, so that those who want to go over from here to you will not be able, nor will [any people] cross over from there to us.' 27 "And he said, 'Then I request of you, father, that you send him to my father's house-- 28 for I have five brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that they will not come to this place of torment as well.' 29 "But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' 30 "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' 31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'"

The Word of God CANNOT ever be understood without the Holy Spirit.

And that is the only way. Otherwise it is just a book written by a bunch of men over thousands of years. Even when history proves its authenticity and one hundred percent prophetic accuracy without Holy Spirit it's a made up piece of literature to the carnal mind and spiritually dead.

Are you telling me that in reality, no one can understand thou shall not steal?  You need some kind of special holy spirit to understand that?  I just asked my brother who is in prison who I dont think has any holy spirit and he understands it just fine.  He chooses not to take the advice at that verse but he understands it.

Well duh...then STOP promoting the lie that one needs holy spirit to understand the Bible.  You are creating an elite class by doing so.....oh, you dont believe in the trinity?  Oh you must not have dat holy spirit then....

5 hours ago, PrehistoricMan said:

The "understanding" I am talking about goes way beyond a simple picking up the Bible and reading Thou shalt not steal and getting what that says. That is a black and white surface understanding that anyone can have.

What I am talking about is Holy Spirit giving you the "hidden" or deeper meanings" Hidden manna" as it is called in the Book of Revelation, which leads to an unwavering belief in the Word of God and changes you from the inside out. It plants something in you that begins to take hold and becomes organic changing your being and you begin to transform, no longer being the blind carnal man that you were but a spiritual man guided by that very Word, and conforming to the image of that Word, who is Jesus.

As a Holy Spirit filled Child of God when reading the Bible the spiritual connection Adam and Eve lost in the Garden gets reconnected and instead of being soulish and flesh reactive first, you start becoming spirit and Word or Bible reactive. It changes your inner most self and you become what you were meant to be which is connected directly to God, the Creator, hearing His voice, obeying His will, because you want to please Him instead of living for yourself, and pleasing your own flesh. It is a "walk" that you never finish while on this earth but will be completed when you go to be with Jesus and are once and for all the spirit, and soul, with the eternal body that will be you forever.

That transformation begins when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and Holy Spirit enters your heart and you daily determine to give Him the chance to help you live this life as God's child. And one of the ways that you grow and mature as His Child is eating His Word, the Bible, as often as you can so that it may fill you up with it's goodness, wisdom, and power, to transform you from a baby Child of God "drinking milk" the Bible describes the process, to more of a mature Child of God, "eating meat." With a whole different understanding of what you read.

This process of change comes from Holy Spirit teaching you by giving you that "Understanding" and spiritual insight that you can only get from Him. A person without Holy Spirit reads that same Word and there is no transformation. That seed of the Word does nothing for them. Yes, they may understand a verse or even a passage or Book, but nothing happens inside of them spiritually.

The Word does not get planted in the kind of soil it takes to make it grow and bear the fruit that changes a person from only a carnal soulish man to a Spirit, Soul, and Body man who now has an open connection to God Himself with, as the Bible says, "the Mind of Christ and seated in heavenly places."

Without Holy Spirit you read the Bible understanding it on a surface level, so to speak. You can pick it up, read it and it does nothing for you spiritually. You are not transformed by it. It does not grow inside of you. You put it down and go on your way. It may sound nice and wise, but it doesn't root itself in your being. That can only happen when Holy Spirit is dwelling inside of you and He shows you what you are reading is deeper, and more alive than what you could understand on your own. The Bible says, Holy Spirit leads you into "all truth."

And if you continue pursuing that truth by reading His Word, by asking Him for help, by asking Holy Spirit for knowledge and understanding and wisdom, by living your daily life consciously in communication with Him, talking to Him, listening and learning to recognize His voice and following what He tells you, then you slowly and surely begin to live on a whole other plane of existence. An existence that sees you live where you were designed to live. A life directly connected to God, through His Spirit, that transforms you into all that He means you to be. Which is a child just like His Son, Jesus.

That is the kind of "Understanding" I am talking about.
