The first comment from the director of the Central Bank project regarding the pictures of cracks in the building under construction (photos)

Baghdad - people

The director of the Central Bank of Iraq project, Ikhlas Al-Nadawi, commented, on Monday, about the pictures that spread on social media, which showed cracks in the structure of the new building under construction.

Al-Nadawy said during her hosting in the “UTV” news bulletin and followed by “Nas” (September 20, 2021), that “the pictures that we have seen from the communication sites are pictures of defects that appear in the concrete during implementation, and they can occur in any project, and the pictures are not clear, These cracks can also be treated with special materials, and they can occur in any of the projects and do not affect the work because they are superficial cracks.”

Regarding the causes of cracks, Al-Nadawy indicated, “The thickness of the surface concrete may be uneven, which may lead to the emergence of such problems, and these deformations are impermeable, that is, they did not reach the iron structure of the concrete, and they are considered defects that can be addressed, and there are several solutions using additives to these. the problem".

Regarding a comparison between the price of one floor in Burj Khalifa and its price in the new Central Bank building, which amounts to $21 million, compared to $7 billion in Burj Khalifa, Al-Nadawy commented: “It is not possible to compare bank buildings and ordinary buildings, and we sat in an audit meeting with the Board of Financial Supervision. We presented the cost study that was approved by Zaha's office."

And she continued, "It is natural that the Central Bank building cannot be compared to the Burj Khalifa, as the requirements for building banks are different, and the bank building is explosion-proof, and it has underground safes, so the quality of materials used in the finishes, packaging, methods of work and implementation are different, meaning more durable." .
