Prior to his visit to Tehran.. Al-Kazemi doubles entry features for Iranian visitors

{Local: Al Furat News} An informed source told Middle East News that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi presented 30,000 additional entry visas to Iranian visitors two days before his visit to Tehran.

Al-Kazemi is scheduled to visit Tehran next Sunday at the head of a high-level delegation.

The source in the Prime Minister's Office stated that "Al-Kazemi, in a procedure before his visit, provided another 30,000 visas to the Iranian people, in addition to the quota that the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety in Iraq had previously set for the Islamic Republic of Iran."

And he indicated that "in view of the importance of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Iraqi government and the inseparable friendship and unity between the two peoples, Al-Kazemi has granted another 30,000 visas to the friendly and neighborly Iranian people, in addition to the 30,000 previously announced visas."

It is worth noting that the forty march was officially launched last Monday from Ras Al-Bishah (the far south of the Al-Faw region in the Basra Governorate) under the slogan “From the sea to the sacrifice.”

And the Supreme Committee for Health and Safety decided this week to enter 30,000 visitors from Iran and 10,000 from the Gulf countries and the rest of the countries to perform the ceremonies of the Arbaeen visit and through flights exclusively.

A government source reveals Al-Kazemi's agenda on his visit to Tehran

{Political: Al-Furat News} Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi will head to Tehran, next Sunday, on a visit during which he will meet with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.

A source in the Council of Ministers told AFP today, Friday, that the visit reviews the energy file between the two countries and Iranian-Saudi relations.
The expected meeting that brings together Al-Kazemi and Raisi will be the first since the latter took over the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the beginning of last August.
The visit comes a month before the date of the early legislative elections in Iraq, which are scheduled for the tenth of next month.
The source said that during his visit to Tehran, Al-Kazemi will discuss issues of "security, energy, and relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran."
Iraq and Iran have close relations at the official level, as well as developed relations with Saudi Arabia.
According to the government source, during the meeting, the file of the tense relations between Riyadh and Tehran will be discussed, amid Iraq's efforts to play the role of mediator after it was the scene of closed meetings between the two parties.
Al-Kazemi's government had succeeded in gathering diplomats from the two countries during a conference held at the end of last August in Baghdad.
It is expected that the issue of granting entry visas to Iranian pilgrims coming to Iraq to visit the holy shrines in Najaf and Karbala will be discussed during the visit, according to the same source.
Yesterday, Thursday, Al-Kazemi announced an increase in the number of foreign visitors to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) at the end of this month.
And 60,000 Iranian visitors will be able to visit Karbala, after only 30,000 were allowed.
Since last year, the number of visas has decreased due to the Corona pandemic.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi became the first foreign leader on Sunday to visit and meet with Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi since the hardliner took office in August.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi became the first foreign leader on Sunday to visit and meet with Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi since the hardliner took office in August.

Iraq has been trying to mediate between Tehran and its Gulf Arab foes, including Saudi Arabia, in the hope of stopping its neighbors settling scores on its territory.

Iraq has become the playground of rivalries between Iran on one side and the United States, Israel and Gulf Arab states on the other, with attacks against U.S. forces and assassinations of Iranian and Iraqi paramilitary leaders.

"I hope despite the aims of the enemies of the two countries, we will witness expansion of good relations between Iran and Iraq," Raisi said in a joint news conference in Tehran.

Raisi said Iraq had agreed to waive visas for Iranian pilgrims to Shi'ite holy sites in Iraq later this month on the occasion of Arbaeen marking the end of the 40-day mourning period for Imam Hussein, Prophet Mohammed's grandson.

"Decisions were also made about the two countries' financial issues that should be adopted," Raisi said, without elaborating.

Iraq relies on Iranian gas and electricity, but imports have been irregular recently due to outstanding payments.

Iran's state gas company said late last year that it had slashed supplies to Iraq over more than $6 billion arrears, placing Baghdad and other cities at risk of power shortages.

Iraq's electricity ministry said last month that Iranian gas supplied to the central region was reduced from 3 million to 2 million cubic meters per day, while to the southern region it was reduced from 17 million to 5 million cubic meters per day.
