{Economic: Al Furat News} The Iraqi-Saudi Coordinating Council stressed, today, Thursday, the need to proceed with all the procedures agreed upon in the memoranda of understanding.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers stated, in a statement received by {Euphrates News}, that "the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council held a meeting today, Thursday, headed by the Chairman of the Council, Minister of Finance Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi, to discuss and discuss the outcomes of the sub-committees emanating from within the Council, and the results of joint meetings. between the Iraqi and Saudi sides.

The Council stressed, according to the statement, "the great interest of the Iraqi government in the bilateral relations linking the Republic of Iraq with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all fields, and the need to proceed with all the technical and legal procedures that have resulted in memoranda of understanding and framework agreements concluded between the two countries, and the steps that have been implemented to On the ground, and the future stages of activating bilateral understandings.

The statement pointed out that "the members of the Council discussed the outcomes of joint meetings during mutual visits and meetings via closed circuit television, with regard to real partnerships in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture, sports, scientific and educational cooperation, as well as the files of transport, border crossings, ports, banking and customs cooperation."

He continued, "The members of the Council also reviewed the preparation for holding the Business Council forum later, to discuss the files of joint investment projects, and the presentation of the proposed ones by the Iraqi side, and the preparation for holding the joint meeting between the Iraqi and Saudi sides."

The meeting was attended, according to the statement: “The National Coordinator of the Council, the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, and the ministers of oil, planning, transport, agriculture, youth, sports, industry, minerals, higher education, scientific research and culture, as well as the undersecretaries of the ministries of finance and interior, the governor of the Central Bank, the head of the Arab department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Iraqi ambassador to Riyadh".

Iraq and Saudi Arabia sign a maritime transport agreement and announce its details
  
{Economic: Al Furat News} Iraq and Saudi Arabia signed a maritime transport agreement between the two countries, which aims to increase the traffic of commercial ships between the two countries.

The Saudi-Iraqi agreement supports trade exchange and facilitates port access procedures

This came during a meeting of the Transport, Border Ports and Ports Committee of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council, today in Riyadh, headed by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser from the Saudi side, and the Minister of Transport Nasser Al-Shibli from the Iraqi side.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to increase the volume of trade exchange through the Jdeidet Arar port by facilitating procedures, and accelerating the movement of trade exchange at the port so that the handling process does not exceed four hours per container, provided that periodic reports are submitted to that for measurement and improvement.

It was also agreed to rehabilitate and prepare the new port of Arar on the Saudi and Iraqi sides through the implementation of the project to expand the road linking the port and the Saudi border.

At the level of maritime transport and ports, the cooperation agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of the Republic of Iraq in the field of maritime transport was discussed, and it was agreed to sign the agreement as soon as the internal procedures were completed.

The two sides also agreed to approve the members of the Technical Committee for Maritime Transport in the two countries, provided that the first meeting of the committee will be held during the last quarter of 2021 AD to discuss the mechanism for implementing the cooperation agreement in the field of maritime transport and to discuss the most important issues related to strengthening the role of ports and encouraging the navigation line between King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Port Umm Qasr, Iraq, the exchange of experiences in the fields of port automation and management and the achievement of an electronic link between the ports of the Kingdom and Iraq to exchange information about ships and goods was also discussed.

With regard to air transport, the two sides agreed to activate the air transport agreement for its entry into force and to discuss the continuation of technical cooperation between the two countries, specifically in the fields of air transport, air safety, aviation security and airports.

The authority said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "a memorandum of understanding was implemented between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the visit of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council headed by the Iraqi Minister of Transport and the membership of the Director General of the General Customs Authority, the Director General of the Iraqi Exhibitions Company, and a number of Officials within the Iraqi delegation.
She added, "The visit was in implementation of the memorandum of understanding established by the Council of Ministers in order to facilitate customs work and work to open the Jumaima border crossing and seek to raise the level of trade exchange through the Arar customs port and facilitate procedures in implementing the transit work."
