Jordan's King Abdullah II: A strong Iraq represents a pillar for regional economic integration

Shafaq News/ Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein praised on Saturday Iraq's role in "building bridges of dialogue at the regional and international levels."

The Jordanian King said in a speech during the launch of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, "Our meeting in this conference is evidence of Iraq's central role in promoting regional and international dialogue by adopting a policy of balance and openness."

King Abdullah indicated that Iraq has been working to consolidate the state of the constitution and the law. Therefore, "there is a priority, which is to support Iraq in these efforts."

He added, "We support the Iraqi government's efforts to combat extremism and terrorism, in addition to its efforts to rebuild and enhance the unity and stability of Iraq...A strong Iraq represents a pillar for regional economic integration and creates an environment for cooperation among the region's countries."

King Abdullah continued, "This conference is being held in critical developments, including food security and the Coronavirus pandemic," stressing the necessity to find a platform of cooperation and partnership to overcome them.

Al-Kazemi's office said in a statement, that the latter met the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, on the sidelines of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, which started its work today, where they discussed ways to strengthen relations and joint cooperation, in light of the principles of partnership and bilateral coordination, towards issues of concern. and strengthening bilateral positions that consolidate the security and stability of the region.

During the meeting, Al-Kazemi stressed Iraq's keenness to strengthen the participants, reduce the causes of regional and international conflicts, direct joint efforts towards solving outstanding problems, and moving the region towards sustainable development.

For his part, Al-Sabah praised Iraq's role in strengthening the pillars of international and regional stability, stressing the keenness of the State of Kuwait to strengthen joint work, leading to achieving economic integration and reducing sources of tension and instability in the region.

It promotes a better life for all the people of the region.

He added that Iraq's balanced relations aim to achieve security and stability in the region, and that Iraq's role in this is important and pivotal, and its security and stability must be ensured, which will reflect positively on everyone, and establish broader horizons based on peace and moving towards economic interconnections.

For his part, King Abdullah expressed his happiness to visit Baghdad again, praising the growing joint relations, and once again his country's support for Iraq in maintaining its security and stability, and looking forward to strengthening economic and trade relations through the aspirations set in this regard, by strengthening the agreements concluded between the two sides.

Baghdad-Iraq today:

The conference of Iraq's neighboring countries was launched in the capital, Baghdad, in which 9 countries, most of them from Iraq's regional neighborhood, and Arab and international organizations participate, and discuss economic cooperation and political files of interest to the region.

The Prime Minister of Iraq, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, opened the activities of the conference, with a speech in which he stressed the importance of restoring normal life in all Iraqi cities, reiterating his request from the international community for the necessary support to complete and monitor the early elections, scheduled for next October.

He added, "There is no return to wars and tense relations with neighbors. What unites the peoples of this region is greater than what divides them."

He pointed out that "terrorism is trying to find a foothold," adding: "But we are constantly eliminating its attempts."

In his speech, French President Emmanuel Macron said that his country "will remain committed to the side of the Iraqi forces," noting that "terrorism still exists in Iraq and Syria and we must stay to combat it."

He stressed that combating terrorism means restoring stability to the areas that have suffered from it, and said: "We will guarantee the stability of Iraq if we guarantee the rights of all."

Macron pointed out that missions from the European Union and the United Nations will monitor the upcoming Iraqi elections.

As for Jordan's King Abdullah II, he said that support for Iraq is "a priority for all."

He added, "Our meeting today is evidence of Iraq's central role in building bridges and rapprochement."

He pointed out that "the security and stability of Iraq is part of the security and stability of the entire region."

In his speech, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, praised Iraq's ability to play an active role in building peace in the region, pointing out that "from this standpoint, we announce our full support for it."

As for Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, he stressed the importance of Iraq not being an arena for competition between powers, but rather for cooperation and partnership.

He said that his country is ready to provide support to Iraq to confront terrorist organizations, and to cooperate with countries in the region to enhance Iraq's stability.

Cavusoglu indicated Turkey's readiness to assist in the reconstruction of Iraq by implementing vital projects.

As for Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, he said that "what the region is witnessing requires raising the level of coordination," reiterating Riyadh's support for Iraq and working on everything that preserves its security and stability.

He said that the Kingdom's diplomacy is based on supporting peace, reducing conflicts and dialogue, pointing out that they are continuing to coordinate with Iraq and countries in the region to combat extremism and terrorism,

adding: "We support Iraq's stability and territorial integrity, and we are also committed to supporting development."

In his speech, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian called on the countries of the region to support the security and stability of Iraq, pointing out that his country was the first in the region to recognize the new Iraq.

He said that Iraq plays an important role in the region and Iran, which motivates everyone to show solidarity with it and develop it.

Abdullahian stressed that "achieving peace in the region must be through dialogue between everyone, away from foreign interference," noting that "the Americans will not bring security and peace to the peoples of the region."

The Iranian foreign minister indicated that "our new government will work to strengthen relations with neighboring countries," and said, "Our new foreign policy will be balanced and effective."

Representatives of the permanent members of the UN Security Council, namely the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom, will participate in the Baghdad Summit.

The European Union, the Group of Twenty countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council will also participate.


The "Cooperation and Partnership" conference will discuss files related to expanding economic partnerships, combating terrorism, supporting reconstruction projects in Iraq, and expanding cooperation between it and neighboring countries
