NEWS - Tommy Patrio Sorongan, CNBC Indonesia 29 July 2021 16:45 Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The World Health Organization (WHO) included the Covid variant B.1466.2 in its monitoring. This variant itself is known to appear in Indonesia in November 2020. On its official website, the UN Agency lists B.1466.2 as a variant of Alerts for Further Monitoring or requiring further monitoring. This virus itself is known to have entered that category since April 28. "The Alerts for Further Monitoring variant category can be interpreted as suspected genetic changes that affect the characteristics of the virus with some indications that the variant may pose a risk in the future," said WHO as quoted from its official website, Thursday (29/7/2021). WHO added that this B.1466.2 variant requires further research before it is classified as a variant of concern (VoC), which means a variant of concern (VoI). "It is hoped that our understanding of the impact of this variant can develop rapidly, and that Warnings set for Further Monitoring may be added/removed soon. Therefore, the WHO label will not be assigned at this time," WHO wrote. Until now, WHO has put several viruses that are included in VoC and VoI. The VoC group includes the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta Variants. Meanwhile, for VoI WHO includes Eta, Iota, Kappa, and Lambda variants. link : https://www.cnbcindonesia.com/news/20210729161033-4-264659/who-pantau-varian-covid-asli-indonesia-b14662-ada-apa
