Discussions took place between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad to open branches of Iraqi banks in the Kurdistan Region. The rapporteur of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Ahmed Saffar, says that there is no political obstacle to the opening of branches of Iraqi banks in the cities of the Kurdistan Region.

Saffar told PUKmedia today, Thursday, that after the visit of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq to the Kurdistan Region last week, discussions were held about the opening of branches of Iraqi banks in the cities of the Kurdistan Region.

Al-Saffar added, that they in the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives are trying to organize the banking system throughout Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and for this purpose we held a meeting with a number of Iraqi banks.

He pointed out that Iraqi banks such as TbI, Al-Rasheed and Al-Rafidain grant loans to citizens, and while opening their branches in the cities of the Kurdistan Region, there is no doubt that the citizens of the region will benefit from these loans, in addition to the banks also benefiting.

He added, that there is no political obstacle so far that prevents the opening of branches of these banks in the Kurdistan Region, and that the reason may be technical and financial.
