It might be easy to knock him, but these proclamations put him in the IRGC crosshairs, as they have systematically drained the wealth and blood of many Iraqi citizens.

Now, when the mechanisms start biting and the swamp is SLOWLY drained (drain it too fast at your peril!), Salih has a big a target on his back for all of the IRGC's mercenaries and there are plenty of them.

Most people I know can't even stand up to their bosses, let alone the folks who would murder them and their bosses. So, this is progress even though the teeth to get back the money takes time to harden and be sharpened. The political will required is massive as is the number of legal hours required, international law enforcement treaties, then the judicial system, and hopefully the prison system.

So, should he resign, if he is a good man (easily debated?) swimming in a river of **** leading out of the swamp?

Iraqi President Barham Salih revealed that Iraq's financial imports since 2003 to this day amounted to about 100 thousand billion US dollars, and that due to corruption, Iraq has lost huge sums estimated at 150 billion dollars that were smuggled abroad.

In a speech he addressed to the Iraqi people, on the occasion of the Presidency of the Republic presenting a draft law that is the first of its kind after the fall of the former regime to the Iraqi parliament for the purpose of its legislation, and aims to recover the looted Iraqi funds, Saleh said that “the draft law includes subsequent steps to recover corruption money, and includes support for institutions. Why Rv your currency when you can steal as much as you want without any repercussions. No Country is going to take these clowns seriously because nothing is being done about this. I read where an Iraqi citizen stated "America handed the Iraqi over to Iran" after the end of the Iraq War. She stated this because Maliki was chosen as the first Prime Minister and it has been hell every since because he is loyal to Iran. I think it will take revolution before anything is done.

The current political system is intentionally designed to impede the creation of an effective government capable of carrying out reforms. It is governed by a party system that has resulted in a monopoly over political decisions by a small group of leaders, most of whom were not elected in a democratic or transparent process. Nonetheless, the government is usually formed according to formal rules and procedures that appear, at least on the surface, to be democratic.

Al-Zaidi promised the draft law that “the bold and sensitive, and the presidency of the republic did not approach it and seek permission from it around it, because if that happened, it would not have come out of this law,” affirming that “those with influence and political influence will be included in the law of recovering the stolen money.”
He expected, "The law will pass in the House of Representatives, and there will be some observations on it, and it may not remain in its current form."
He stressed that "the law establishes a subsequent and previous control, and it will oblige all government officials to disclose their financial liabilities and give agency to the supervisory authorities in pursuing their money inside and outside Iraq," noting that "the law monitors balances that exceed 500 thousand dollars and prosecution will take place at all times."
Al-Zaidi revealed, "the comprehensiveness of the law granting 1% to the informant about the value of corruption, which amounts to 500 million dinars, which is an encouraging issue after the judicial ruling has decided on it, which is an important step and the paragraph was put in place because of the presence of people who have important information that they do not give and the reward may push them to divulge it."
He pointed out that "a person convicted of corruption has been dismissed from public office and will not participate in any dealings with the state to close all doors before him as a severe punishment against him."
The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, announced in a speech last Sunday that the draft law on "recovering the proceeds of corruption" would be submitted to the House of Representatives, in a step to combat corruption, restore Iraqi funds smuggled abroad, and bring the corrupt to justice, indicating that the draft law includes practical, deterrent, proactive and subsequent measures. Abdul Latif: Some are preparing to rig the elections, and the Federal Court’s decision came on time

{Politics: Al-Furat News} The former minister and parliamentarian, Wael Abdel-Latif, revealed that someone is preparing to rig the upcoming elections.

Abdul Latif said; The program “Aalimastara” broadcast by the Al-Furat satellite channel tonight, “We have to admit that the current political process has reached a dead end, and everyone should be aware of that. No Iraqi rejected it and went out to take rights.”
He pointed out that "in the event that things remain as they were previously, the political forces will remake themselves again and return to Parliament; therefore, the Commission and Elections Law had to be changed and the catastrophic fraud bleeding that occurred in 2018 should have been stopped."
Abdel-Latif described forgery in the law as a "crime against honor," revealing "preparations for fraud through electoral cards and equipment, breaking the will of the voter and political money," adding that "one of the former ministers in the elections spent $ 5 million to win a parliamentary seat."
"Anything is expected to happen in the country and its future is unknown," he added.
Regarding the Federal Court’s decision to lift the immunity of the deputies and the absolute majority, Abd al-Latif stated, “It came in its due time. Immunity is a factor that obstructs the work of the judiciary, and the decision is sound, especially for those who catch the flagrante delicto.”
The Federal Supreme Court decided yesterday to abstain from previous court decisions regarding obtaining the approval of the House of Representatives in all crimes for which members of Parliament are accused, whether crimes are felonies, misdemeanors, or offenses. A crime of the type of felony that is not witnessed, except for the impunity of the members of Parliament, and legal measures can be taken against them directly in the event that any of them is accused of a felony, misdemeanor, or violation.
Abdul Latif also commented on the President of the Republic's law on recovering corruption proceeds by saying, "The strange figure that the President of the Republic mentioned {150} billion dollars, how was it calculated? And where did it come out?" We do not know where this money has gone. "
He concluded, "This law is impossible to implement, and the president's motives may be intended to provide something for the large number of calls to fight corruption, and it is assumed that the focus is on corruption whales."
Abdul Latif concluded his interview by saying, "We said one day that the Minister of Industry should not leave before he makes sure that the last table he sits on is sold, so that he can complete the sale of the entire ministry."
And the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, announced in a speech last Sunday that the draft law on "recovering the proceeds of corruption" was submitted to the House of Representatives, in a step to combat corruption, restore Iraqi funds smuggled abroad, and bring the corrupt to justice, indicating that the draft law includes practical, deterrent, and proactive measures To recover corruption money.

Alsumaria News / Baghdad

A member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee Falah Al-Khafaji suggested, on Friday, a mechanism by which half of the looted and smuggled money can be recovered if it is properly and accurately applied.

Al-Khafaji said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "The actual elimination or reduction of corruption and the return of the looted and smuggled money requires a real will and deliberate plans to address this file," indicating that "it is possible that the funds of every official in the Iraqi state will be followed up to his fourth-degree relatives since "During his tenure, and following up on their situation, have their wealth doubled, and have they acquired large property and bank balances?"

Al-Khafaji added, "The second step is through activating the graft law and from where do you get this, for those who have reached the point of super-rich and have acquired countless banks, palaces and funds, and follow-up from where they got that money, is it before 2003 or after?" This date and how to obtain it in detail, "pointing out that" some did not own anything and live a very simple life, then today they have become owners of factories and mega projects and very large balances and it is necessary to know where they got that money. "

He pointed out that "if we want to dry up the sources of corruption, or at least reduce them, we should proceed with this mechanism as a first step, and at that time it is possible, in the case of correct and accurate implementation, to return up to half of the smuggled and looted sums in corruption deals," stressing that "the matter needs seriousness and a strong prime minister." He is courageous and resolute to fight corruption and lack of courtesy under any pressure. "
