Saturday Early Morning Opinion - 5/15/2021

Recommended Posts

Remember, no one really  knows what will happen, or when. They're simply stating their opinions based on what  they perceive to be happening in Iraq. :twothumbs:RON

*** Frank26 *** They [Iraq] has to have liberalization of movement...they need a free market - a liberalization of their currency is important for the their currency to be viable.  They need to be Article VIII - it's not that they have to raise the value of their currency.  That's nice and good but they need to announce that they're article VIII and international status.  All of the articles cast a long shadow that proves that they are...they have to just announce it.  And while they do that raise the value of your currency too.  The goal is 1 to 1 in-country and out-country and then float it...international status will equal an increase in their value.

Somehow I have the feeling Iraq and the people of Iraq don't have one bit of care as to what is going on outside of Iraq. All they want to do is live from day to day and their day is living with the IQD and its worth to them.  And that worth is just what we paid for the IQD.

They've lived that way since the time we invaded until now.  The big question is, "DO THEY REALLY WANT A RATE CHANGE" ?  I know that WE do, but do THEY ? Just asking for a friend.

I wonder the same thing. But who knows miracle can happen at anytime. this is iraq we are talking about. May be right now this isn't the best time for iraq to rv the iqd. When is the best time? Only cbi, goi and minister of finance know the answer.

My guess is its all about whether they are a country that exports enough to keep a low exchange rate or whether it is more profitable  with all the goods they import in to have an exchange rate that has more purchasing power.  China and Vietnam have opted for the lower exchange rate because most of their income comes from exporting goods.

*** Pimpy *** Article: "The dollar exchange rates fell in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region"  What does this mean?  Remember I always told you guys, think about the direction the dinar is going in.  That's how you know if it's good or bad.  It says the dollar exchange rates fall in Baghdad (And in Kurdistan ).  That's a good thing when the dollar exchange rate, not the dinar, fall...that's what you want to see happen...the number of dinars you get for the U.S. dollar you want that to go down.  The lower it goes the better it is for those holding onto dinar...you don't want it to go up, you want it to go down.  If the numbers go up, it means it's being devalued...

*** Petra ***  We've got nothing to share.  Nothing going on.  It's kinda boring. NOT!  ...The Group of Seven [G7]...it made a very clear statement.  It said that the G7 supports the sovereignty and independence of Iraq.  That's the largest, financially most profitable countries in the world recognizing the sovereignty and independence of Iraq.  That to me is a very clear clear statement of how they feel and where they feel Iraq is at...

*** Pimpy *** Article: "Parliament hosts the governor of the central and the Finance Committee talks about sales in violation of the dollar and beneficiary parties"  Here we go.   We're starting to get into investigations regarding the exchange rate...this is the people's money - what the hell are you guys doing with it?

*** MilitiaMan *** Why is the world Bank so giving now..? [Article Quote] "With regard to the role of the World Bank in improving Iraq’s economy, Numan stated that “the Bank is working with the Government of Iraq to implement the reform items that it has drawn up, and we are working through all our projects to approach the economic crises that we have previously identified, and all the projects we undertake are within the framework of supporting the paper White reform. He pointed out that "Iraq has drawn up a policy to improve the country's economic reality by adhering to the reform white paper approved by the Council of Ministers, and work has begun to implement its contents."… There you go. They are implementing the WPs [White Papers]…

*** Mnt Goat *** We must all remember that the original reason why they changed out the Saddam notes for the larger 3 zero notes was to combat massive inflation and stabilize the economy. In 2003 it was on the brink of crashing. So now how does it look after almost 17 years of the larger three zero notes? Is it much better than in 2003?  Okay so if you are really a student of Iraqi politics and finance you will learn that  it does not have to be much better, only stable. Stable you say? How can the dinar be stable with the rate changing so much and being devalued?  So maybe the time  have come now to release the lower denominations as the three zero notes have out lived their original purpose? But to turn the currency back on, they will still need the oil and gas law.
