ronscarpa
Remember, no one really knows what will happen, or when. They're simply stating their opinions based on what they perceive to be happening in Iraq. RON *** Frank26 *** They [Iraq] has to have liberalization of movement...they need a free market - a liberalization of their currency is important for the their currency to be viable. They need to be Article VIII - it's not that they have to raise the value of their currency. That's nice and good but they need to announce that they're article VIII and international status. All of the articles cast a long shadow that proves that they are...they have to just announce it. And while they do that raise the value of your currency too. The goal is 1 to 1 in-country and out-country and then float it...international status will equal an increase in their value. 1 2

Somehow I have the feeling Iraq and the people of Iraq don't have one bit of care as to what is going on outside of Iraq. All they want to do is live from day to day and their day is living with the IQD and its worth to them. And that worth is just what we paid for the IQD. They've lived that way since the time we invaded until now. The big question is, "DO THEY REALLY WANT A RATE CHANGE" ? I know that WE do, but do THEY ? Just asking for a friend.

I wonder the same thing. But who knows miracle can happen at anytime. this is iraq we are talking about. May be right now this isn't the best time for iraq to rv the iqd. When is the best time? Only cbi, goi and minister of finance know the answer.
Linda Bower
My guess is its all about whether they are a country that exports enough to keep a low exchange rate or whether it is more profitable with all the goods they import in to have an exchange rate that has more purchasing power. China and Vietnam have opted for the lower exchange rate because most of their income comes from exporting goods.
