The success of the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Iraq in March 2021 was also a reflection of this policy.

We are also proud of our position today within the international community and our distinguished relationship with the countries of Europe and the United States of America, and we have preserved the historic and decisive position of Iraq in support of the Palestinian cause.

The success of the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Iraq in March 2021 was also a reflection of this policy.

We are also proud of our position today within the international community and our distinguished relationship with the countries of Europe and the United States of America, and we have preserved the historic and decisive position of Iraq in support of the Palestinian cause.

Negotiations with Iran to build a railway line between Basra and Shalamjah have reached their final stages, and we have signed fifteen agreements and memoranda of understanding with Jordan and Egypt on energy and transport lines, as well as the signing of many agreements with Turkey on security, economic and investment issues, and the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding with France, Germany and Britain to rehabilitate and build new roads, airports and railway lines. As well as activating the understandings in the Chinese agreement to apply them on the ground through a series of infrastructure projects, and the signing of contracts with major American companies to invest in Iraq. 

In the file of the strategic dialogue with the United States, we have proven that dialogue, frankness and direct methods are more beneficial than stubbornness, obstinacy and chaos.  

During three sessions of the dialogue, we achieved advanced steps for the exit of the remainder of the combat forces of the international coalition, consecration of cooperation in all areas, including training and rehabilitation, and prepared upcoming rounds between the military committees to set the time and technical frameworks to achieve this.

The Independent High Electoral Commission has contracted with two German companies, one to check electoral software, hardware and media, and the other to print ballot papers.

Adviser to the Prime Minister for Elections Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Hussein Al-Hindawi, told Al-Sabah: "The commission recently signed a contract with a German examining company in preparation for the electoral process that will take place next October," noting that "there is work in cooperation with the United Nations, which was briefed on the elections." All this issue, and it helps in this area, but it remains the final decision of the Commission and members of the Iraqi Commission Council."

He added that "the commission signed memoranda of understanding with the relevant ministries, which contribute to the success of the electoral process and its appearance as best as possible."

Al-Hindawi added: "The commission is still in continuous discussions to secure the electoral process, ballot boxes, warehouses, polling stations and stations, voters and candidates alike, in a way that ensures the safety of all and the smooth, easy and smooth progress of the process."

Statements and statements from various political leaders and party blocs in the country continue regarding adherence to the scheduled date for the elections on October 10, but some sources spoke about the filing of appeals to the Federal Court by “blocks that did not announce their names” in an attempt to postpone the upcoming elections, and announced the presidency of Parliament on Monday confirmed once again that the elections will be held on time, calling on the international community to help Iraq monitor it. 

A statement stated that Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi discussed with the new Australian ambassador to Iraq Paula Ganley the developments of the situation in the country and early elections, and the need to ensure their integrity and provide electoral security, to create an appropriate environment for fair and impartial elections that express the will of the citizen, and the importance of the role of the international community as the United Nations Assistance Mission Iraq (UNAMI) in monitoring the elections, to enhance confidence in the electoral process for wide participation in it.

In turn, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Karim Al-Kaabi, during his reception in his office, the Dutch ambassador, Michael Rintenar, and his accompanying delegation, stressed the need to hold early elections on their scheduled date on the tenth of next October, and the support of the United Nations and the European Union countries for them.

In addition, Adviser to the President of the Republic, Haugen Omar, denied the news of President Barham Salih's request to postpone the date of the early parliamentary elections scheduled for October 10.

In a press interview, Omar said, "The President of the Republic is insisting on holding the elections on time, despite the challenges."

This came in response to statements made by the head of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, in which he said: "The President of the Republic requested to postpone the elections scheduled for next October."

And regarding what was circulated in the media about the appeals submitted to the election law by some political blocs in order to postpone the elections, House of Representatives member Ali Al-Budairi explained, in an interview with Al-Sabah, that “the blocs that challenge the election law in the Federal Court do not state that they are the ones who submitted the elections.” The appeals, and so far, these appeals are being circulated in the media without mentioning the name of the bloc or without an official clarification of who the bloc is that submitted the appeal.

And he indicated that "a section of the political blocs is unwilling to hold early elections and is not satisfied with the election law, which provides for multiple districts."
