Kamala Harris agrees America is not racist but warns white supremacists are a great national security threat and she defends her work on border, saying it won't be fixed overnight

Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday agreed with Republican Tim Scott that America is not a racist country but, she warned, white supremacists are a threat to national security.

 

In a wide-ranging interview on ABC's 'Good Morning America' to mark her and President Joe Biden's 100th day in office, Harris also defended her work on the Southern border, saying the problem won't be fixed overnight. 

'I don't think America is a racist country but we also do have to speak truth about the history of racism in our country,' she said.

 

In his GOP response to Biden's address to Congress Wednesday night, Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate, warned about fighting discrimination with discrimination and talked about his personal experience with racism.

'Hear me clearly: America is not a racist county,' Scott said. 

'It's backwards to fight discrimination with different discrimination. And it’s wrong to try to use our painful past to dishonestly shut down debates in the present,' he added.    

Harris, the first African American vice president, agreed America isn't racist but warned the nation has to face the realistic threat from white supremacists.

'One of the greatest threats to our national security is domestic terrorism, manifested by white supremacists,  and so these are issues that we must confront and it doesn't - it does not help to heal our country to unify us as a people to ignore the realities of that,' she said.

I think she is and she isn’t doing her job very good on the border. Border Patrol agents have captured 170k trying to sneak into our country in the last month.
