Al-Maliki said, in a televised interview, followed by the National News Center: “We refuse to bear arms against the state, and the weapon of terror and the weapon of resistance should be distinguished.” Regarding the armed parade in the capital, Baghdad, Al-Maliki said, “I denounce and denounce all this, and I am against any arms exit against the state,” describing it as “the weapon is illegal and we cannot call it a resistance weapon, and this is a weapon outside the state.” And he added, "I stand against hitting embassies with rockets, which is an illegal act." The US embassy in Baghdad suffered repeated missile attacks throughout the past year, before receding in recent months.
