Atlanta's Mayor Signs Executive Order To "Mitigate" Impact Of Georgia's Voting Restrictions

Recommended Posts

It seems the direction here is headed down the "Race" path.

The minority population in Colorado is hispanic....(not many black people)...10% in Denver.....where the game will be played...

Atlanta has twice the population of Denver....with 55% of the being black...

Do the math.....moving the game will cause a hardship on Black business owners....

And if this is all about the voter suppression concerns claimed by BLM and the likes of Stacy Abrams.....they just screwed their own people....

Jen Psaki Destroys Fox News 'Gotcha' Question About Georgia Voting Law

David Moye
·Reporter, HuffPost

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy attempted to get White House press secretary Jen Psaki in a “gotcha” question on Tuesday only to end up humiliated by a pesky little thing called “facts.”

It happened after Doocy brought up Major League Baseball’s decision to move its 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver in response to Georgia’s new restrictive voting law, which limits the use of drop boxes for absentee ballots and imposes ID requirements on those who vote by mail, among other restrictions.

“Is the White House concerned that Major League Baseball is moving their All-Star Game to Colorado, where voting regulations are very similar to Georgia?” Doocy asked.

Doocy was aping a new conservative talking point that the new law in Georgia isn’t that restrictive compared to voting laws in Colorado, since both states require ID to vote, and the Peach State offers 17 days of in-person early voting compared to 15 days in the Centennial State.

“First, let me say, on Colorado. Colorado allows you to register on Election Day, Colorado has voting by mail where they send, to 100% of people in the state who are eligible, applications to vote by mail,” Psaki said, adding that 94% of Colorado citizens voted by mail in the 2020 election.

Colorado also accepts 16 forms of identification, compared to Georgia’s six.

Psaki also made another distinction between Georgia’s new voting law and the existing one in Colorado.

“The Georgia legislation is built on a lie. There was no widespread fraud in the 2020 election, Georgia’s top Republican election officials have acknowledged that repeatedly in interviews,” she said. ”And what there was, however, was record-setting turnout, especially by voters of color. So instead, what we’re seeing here, for politicians who didn’t like the outcome, they’re not changing their policies to win more votes, they’re changing the rules to exclude more voters. And we certainly see the circumstances as different.”

President Joe Biden has criticized the Georgia law and its impact on voters of color, calling it “Jim Crow in the 21st century.”

Psaki ended the question by pointing out that in a free society, “It’s up to Major League Baseball to determine where they’re holding their All-Star Game.”

Doocy didn’t ask a follow-up question.

You can see the exchange below.

Also, voting should not be so easy that you can sit in your recliner, have a Rat pollster bring you a ballot, you tell him you want to vote for trump and he says sure, checks Biden, tells you will take of everything. Voting is a PRIVILEGE and you have to inconvenience yourself to vote then so be it. It shoes just how serious you ar about casting your vote.

Yes, many times the truth can be interesting, for sure!!  And don't count on the recliner bound Trump voter staying reclined for too long. You may not like it with the next election cycle comes around.

Georgia Governor Suggests Voters Waiting In Long Lines Order Uber Eats

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said Tuesday voters waiting in line in Georgia could order food from Grubhub or UberEats after a new state law criminalized offers of free food and water near polling stations.

“They can order a pizza,” Kemp said on the conservative cable news network Newsmax. “They can order Grubhub or UberEats, right?”

A new law in the state, pushed by Republicans who have echoed former President Donald Trump’s false assertions of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 elections, makes sweeping changes to election rules in Georgia. Among the law’s provisions is a rule barring anyone other than election workers from offering food or water to voters within 150 feet of a polling place.

That provision, which makes it a misdemeanor to hand out food or water, has become a symbol of Democratic complaints about the law’s broader provisions, which make it more difficult to vote absentee; curtail voting access in Democratic-learning urban and suburban counties while promoting it in rural areas that favor the GOP; and give Republican politicians sweeping power over the state’s elections.

Long lines to vote are common in metro Atlanta, the center of Democratic power in the state, where a rapidly growing and diversifying population means the number of voters assigned to some polling places has doubled since the beginning of the last decade. In the interview, Kemp blamed county governments ― many of which are run by Democrats ― for those long lines.

“They need to do a better job of running their elections and moving people through the lines, so they’re not standing out there so long,” Kemp said.

Long lines can deter voters. A study from the Bipartisan Policy Center found over half a million eligible voters did not cast a ballot in 2016 due to long lines and other polling place management errors. And facing long lines once can deter voters from coming back to cast their ballots in the future.

Democrats, up to and including President Joe Biden, have attacked the law as a return of the Jim Crow provisions that successfully limited Black Americans’ participation in Southern politics for nearly a century. Major companies in Georgia, including Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines, have condemned the law, and Major League Baseball announced last week it is moving the league’s All-Star Game to Denver. (Colorado, which mails a ballot to every registered voter in the state, has some of the nation’s most voter-friendly election laws.)

Kemp said Major League Baseball and other companies have ”caved to the mob.”

Kemp is up for reelection in 2022. Former state Sen. Vernon Jones, a Democrat who switched parties and endorsed Trump in 2020, is considering challenging him in the GOP primary. Former state House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams, whom Kemp narrowly beat in 2018, is expected to be the Democratic nominee.

After Kemp’s narrow win in 2018, Democrats broke through in 2020. Biden narrowly won the state on Election Day, then Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock claimed both of the state’s Senate seats in a pair of January runoff elections.

During the runoff elections, Trump repeatedly attacked Kemp and Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for failing to overturn Biden’s narrow win. Trump has already endorsed Rep. Jody Hice as a primary challenger to Raffensperger, and has suggested he will support an intra-party challenge to Kemp as well.

The first sentence of the article is a lie. There is a bias against the law from the get go. Over reacting from the Left to make it worse. READ the law. Let it soak in. This new law expands voting days.

This law is less restrictive than some of the Dem states. New Jersey and NY for a couple.

Sounds good to me, or are we now suppose to feed them also while they exercise their privilege to vote?? Or maybe we could print a few more trillion from the Fed Reserve and pay them to come out and vote. Yeah, that's the ticket!!!

All the more reason to convince Mitch and McCarthy to work with the "Rats" in a bipartisan way to limit the damage rightwingers are so afraid of.....or they can continue the stonewall the GOP has become famous for and simply leave the "Rats" to call all the shots on their own as the majority party.

So typical how the media and the left will slant a story.....here is reality......

States have laws that on election day parties and people can't campaign with in so many feet of a polling place....

This was done so voters would not be bothered, or irritated, by over enthusiastic party people giving voters a last pitch...

Same thing goes for the food and water.......no need to have dueling catering at the polling locations....people can bring their own bottle of water....

So do you think Black People, Mexican's and other People of Color are too stupid to obtain a Photo ID, Utility Bill or their Last 4 of the Social Security # or you just rather cheat?

Not at all....I'm sure they are well equipped mentally to achieve all of those things....However, for the less fortunate of them with limited means of travel and time, getting to obscure polling locations intentionally designed to discourage their time and effort to vote, is another thing altogether.

Anybody who doesn't think this law is designed to benefit Republicans is lying to themselves.  As always, just my opinion.
