If you knew how many times I reread my post before actually posting them, you would understand. From my perspective my post are designed to make people think. As for the authenticity of them I simply cannot verify them all. However, I would admit when one of my post is written with the intent to deceive.

As for Gets all I know is that he's another politician. As such I wouldn't be inviting him to dinner at my house. I only take my position in this debate because I know how the left works.

Matt Gaetz rep quits amid sex trafficking investigations

Rep. Gaetz is currently under investigation for possibly breaking federal sex trafficking laws

The New York Times reported that a spokesperson for Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz has abruptly resigned on Friday as public scrutiny continues to intensify.

Luke Ball, who served as a longtime aide and Gaetz’s communications director, began working with the congressman as early as this week to help develop a defense against the investigation.

Ball reportedly weighed the impact his departure would have on Gaetz, but decided that under the circumstances, leaving was the best choice, according to a source. He worked with Gaetz dating back to 2017 as a part-time staff member and earned a reputation as one of his closest aides. In 2018, he served as a deputy campaign manager and later as his press secretary and communications director.

Gaetz’s office confirmed Ball’s departure in a statement relayed by the chief of staff Jillian Lane-Wyatt: “The Office of Congressman Matt Gaetz and Luke Ball have agreed that it would be best to part ways,” the office says. “We thank him for his time in our office, and we wish him the best moving forward.”

Rep. Gaetz is currently under federal investigation by the Justice Department for possibly breaking federal sex trafficking laws for recruiting women online for sex and provided cash payments. Gaetz has denied the allegations.

The Justice Department opened an investigation into whether Gaetz had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old woman, who he paid to travel with him, The New York Times reported in March.

Business Insider reported that he bragged about the “access” to women through his association with former Florida tax collector Joel Greenberg, who was indicted with 14 felony counts last year, including sex trafficking a minor.

“Matt was never shy about talking about his relationship to Joel and the access to women that Joel provided him,” a source told The Washington Post.

On Tuesday, Gaetz issued a statement on Twitter calling the investigation “extortion.”

“Over the past several weeks my family and I have been victims of an organized criminal extortion involving a former DOJ official seeking $25 million while threatening to smear my name. We have been cooperating with federal authorities in this matter,” he said.

He continued, “and my father has even been wearing a wire at the FBI’s direction to catch these criminals. The planted leak to the FBI tonight was intended to thwart that investigation. No part of the allegations against me are true, and the people pushing these lies are targets of the ongoing extortion investigation. I demand the DOJ immediately release the tapes, made at their direction, which implicates their former colleague in crimes against me based on false allegations.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House Ethics committee should consider the allegations against Gaetz and remove him if they’re proven true.

“If in fact, these allegations are true, of course being removed from the Judiciary Committee is the least that could be done,” Pelosi told reporters, according to CBS News. “From what we’ve heard so far, this would be a matter for the Ethics Committee.”

The Party of Pervy Projection Hits a New Low With Matt Gaetz

It’s always the ones you most suspect.

So far, Gaetzgate is the most unsurprising scandal since it came out that Matt’s hero Donald Trump was paying off porn stars to shut up about sleeping with him.

Elements of Gaetz’s story have been out there for a while, the “sleeping with staff for points” part was reported in January by Solomon Gustavo in Orlando Weekly and years before that by Marc Caputo but the Times was able to put the whole thing together. And when the whole thing came together, it sounded a lot like Qanon with men trafficking girls except that in the real-life version it always seems to be Republicans allegedly committing these crimes.

Of course, Gaetz is far from the first fervent Trump supporter in Congress to have his own legal or ethical ethical issues. The first House member to back Trump, Chris Collins, was later charged with insider trading, and huge Trump booster Duncan Hunter used campaign money for bunny plane tickets—among other things. Both of them did their crimes in time to eventually get pardoned by Trump; Gaetz can’t even get a word of support from him so far.

Trump Isn’t Coming to Matt Gaetz’s Rescue—for Now

But Gaetz has built an enormous profile for himself, in his short time in office, because he spends most of his time on rightwing TV—from where he’s been conspicuously absent since this scandal broke, save for one incredibly strange, sad and sweaty appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show. On that show, he tried to drag the host into his scandal and talked up a storm about how he was supposedly being blackmailed by a former DOJ attorney in an interview that was so addled even the Fox host called it “one of the weirdest interviews I’ve ever conducted.”

Since then, Fox News has pretty much disappeared the previously rising party star pretty boy who allegedly like to pop Molly (no relation) with underage party girls, with the propaganda network going a full 30 hours at one point without so much as a mention of him, even as CNN and MSNBC were all over the scandal, with CNN reporting Thursday that Gaetz was showing videos and photos of naked women and bragging about his exploits on the floor of Congress and The New York Times reporting that “The Justice Department inquiry is also examining whether Mr. Gaetz had sex with a 17-year-old girl and whether she received anything of material value, according to four people familiar with the investigation”—and all that’s not to mention the photo of the condoms in a trashcan outside his office that a colleague of his shared with The Daily Beast.

There’s also the inconvenient truth that right after getting to Congress in 2017, Gaetz was the only, yes, the ONLY lawmaker to vote against a bill giving more resources to the federal government to fight, yes, you guessed it, the very thing he may be charged with now, human trafficking.

Matt Gaetz Tries to Rope Tucker Into His FBI Teen Sex Case Defense

The congressman might seem more like a frat boy who appears to have crossed moral and perhaps legal lines—but that doesn’t mean this is any sort of joke. A grown man and a member of Congress reportedly paying teenagers under the age of consent for sex is deadly serious, which perhaps is why Gaetz released a statement as more allegations broke Thursday. The statement used his full name again and again, and flatly denied the charges:

“Matt Gaetz has never paid for sex. Matt Gaetz refutes all the disgusting allegations completely. Matt Gaetz has never ever been on any such websites whatsoever. Matt Gaetz cherishes the relationships in his past and looks forward to marrying the love of his life,” a reference to his fiancée Ginger Lucky. If Ginger is smart, she’s halfway to Istanbul by now. Also, Matt Gaetz’s communications director resigned on Friday for some reason.

Gaetz may be issuing blanket denials but the reports of bad behavior and worse keep pouring in, a lot of them tied to his friend Joel Greenberg, the local tax collector in Florida now charged with 33 counts ranging from wire fraud to sex trafficking and who allegedly used his position to stalk women he was paying on Seeking Arrangements, a “sugar daddy” website. Gaetz, incidentally, has stressed that he’s always taken good care of women he’s been involved with.

In the meantime, the on-the-record silence from Republicans has been deafening, even as many have been dumping on their unpopular, showboating young colleague on background. On CNN Friday morning, former Beast editor John Avlon pointed out that “It doesn’t exactly seem like his Republican colleagues are rallying to his defense.” Dana Bash replied that, “If you could see my text messages from some of his current and former colleagues, I actually can’t repeat what some of them say on morning television.” And earlier in the week Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Fox News, “If it comes out to be true, yes, we would remove him. Those are serious implications.”

Matt Gaetz Keeps Digging Deeper Holes for Himself

But perhaps the worst sign for Gaetz is that Trump and his large adult fail son have replied to the allegations with silence, on the record and on background. “The ex-president has remained on the sidelines, waiting to see what comes out next. So has his son, Don Jr., who is an influential Gaetz ally, too. He has tweeted numerous times since Tuesday evening, but offered no defense of the congressman.”

In fact, the only people speaking up to defend Gaetz are Marjorie Taylor Greene, who got to Congress by promoting Qanon conspiracy theories accusing Democrats of abusing children and who said what’s happening to her friend now was all a “witch hunt” and Jim Jordan, who historically has been pretty good at ignoring other people’s sex crimes.

Rep. Matt Gaetz says he is 'absolutely not resigning' in op-ed amid reports of sex crime investigation

Jim Little, Pensacola News Journal
Mon, April 5, 2021, 4:05 PM

Rep. Matt Gaetz declared that he would "absolutely not" resign from his seat in Congress in a new op-ed published almost a week after national news outlets reported he was under investigation for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl and for paying for sex with other women.

"Let me first remind everyone that I am a representative in Congress, not a monk, and certainly not a criminal," Gaetz wrote in the piece published Monday by The Washington Examiner.

Gaetz went on to characterize the accusations against him as a political attack.

"I want to be clear about something as we process the leaks and lies from the past week," Gaetz wrote. "To this point, there are exactly zero credible (or even non-credible) accusers willing to come forward by name and state on the public record that I behaved improperly toward them, in the manner by which Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has 10 accusers."

The column from Gaetz published Monday was his first lengthy public statement since appearing on Fox News last week just hours after news broke about the investigation. Gaetz's subsequent public remarks about the investigation have been limited to short statements from his office or posts on his Twitter account.

The U.S. Department of Justice is looking into Gaetz's relationship with a 17-year-old girl and whether he paid for her travel across state lines for sex, violating federal sex trafficking laws, multiple media outlets reported last week. Additionally, investigators are looking into alleged payments Gaetz made to other women in exchange for sex, according to reporting from The New York Times.

Gaetz has not been charged with a crime and has vehemently denied the allegations. He also hit back with his own claim that the investigation was being used to extort his family out of $25 million. The alleged extortion attempt came on March 16, about eight months after the Department of Justice reportedly began its investigation.

The extortion claim centered on three individuals, including Pensacola attorney David McGee, a former DOJ prosecutor in the 1980s and 1990s. Gaetz claimed the group said they needed the money to free former FBI agent Robert Levinson from captivity in Iran.

Levinson was declared dead by the U.S. government last year. McGee and his law firm Beggs & Lane issued a statement last week denying Gaetz's allegations.

Gaetz made no mention of the extortion plot in his op-ed Monday. Instead, he wrote that the media was repeating false allegations that were nothing more than "a grown man" paying for an "adult girlfriend's expenses" and that the allegations came out because he "decided to take on the most powerful institutions in the Beltway."

"Yes, just like the mafia, the D.C. swamp protects its 'made men,'" Gaetz said. "Since I’m taking my turn under the gun, let me address the allegations against me directly. First, I have never, ever paid for sex. And second, I, as an adult man, have not slept with a 17-year-old."

Gaetz said since becoming engaged, he has changed his lifestyle, but nothing he did before in his personal life was illegal.

"My personal life is and always has been conducted on my own time and my own dime. Consensual adult relationships are not illegal," Gaetz said. "Although I’m sure some partisan crooks in Merrick Garland’s Justice Department want to pervert the truth and the law to go after me, I will not be intimidated or extorted."

Earlier Monday, retired Air Force Capt. Nathan Nelson, the former military affairs director for Rep. Matt Gaetz, told reporters he believes allegations surrounding Gaetz are false.

Nelson said FBI agents came to his home on Wednesday to question why he had resigned as military affairs director for Gaetz. Nelson said the FBI agents told him members of the national media were chasing leads that Nelson resigned because he knew about Gaetz's illicit behavior.

"I'm here this morning to state that nothing could be further from the truth," Nelson said. "Neither I nor any other member of Congressman Gaetz's staff had any knowledge of illegal activities."

Nelson said he left Gaetz's office because of a planned departure to promote workforce development for the defense industry.

No news media outlets have reported that Nelson left his position with Gaetz over the investigation, but FBI agents asking him about it was enough for Nelson to declare all of the news reports on the investigation into Gaetz as baseless, he said.

"This baseless claim against me leaves me further convinced that the allegations against Congressman Gaetz are likewise fabricated and merely an attempt to discredit a very vocal conservative," Nelson said.

Shabs, if Gaetz is guilty and it can be proven, hang him. But if he is guilty and they hang him, there are many many Rat politicians that need to be keeping him company. If they can prove, STHU and show us the proof. If not STHU and leave him alone.

It's a process.....federal investigations always are, Mueller's for example....and Durham's, which has eclipsed Mueller's in length.  I'm sure Matt will be just fine....He just needs to relax and stop talking before he says something stupid and convicts himself.

Trump's circle isn't defending Matt Gaetz because 'not a lot of people are surprised' by the allegations

Peter Weber

Conservatives in Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-Fla.) solidly Republican district are backing him amid credible reports that the Justice Department is investigating him for possible sex trafficking violations, paying for sex, and other scandalous allegations, but most other allies and Republican lawmakers are keeping him at arm's length. That includes, so far, Florida's most famous Republican, former President Donald Trump, Gaetz's political pole star. It also includes Trump's supporters in conservative media.

"Not a lot of people are surprised," one person involved in Trump's post-presidential operations explained to Politico. A former Trump campaign aide added that "anyone that has ever spent 10 minutes with the guy would realize he's an unserious person."

Gaetz has denied the allegations on Twitter, in an op-ed Monday, and in a poorly received interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson. "The reason you haven't seen people in MAGA world defending Gaetz is less about him being unpopular, which he is in a lot of circles, and more about the fact that he hasn't done a single thing to make people comfortable to defend him," one Trump confidante told Politico. "His interview with Tucker was an absolutely embarrassing train wreck."

Former Rep. Katie Hill (D-Calif.) wrote in Vanity Fair on Monday that during her unlikely congressional friendship with Gaetz, he told her once "you gotta give the fans on Fox what they want, but I do love Donald Trump," adding, "I don't think I want to be in Congress after he's done as president."

Hill wrote that it meant a lot to her when, after her estranged husband leaked naked photos of her during their divorce, including ones showing her in an inappropriate relationship with a staffer, "Matt was the first member of Congress who publicly and unapologetically defended me, saying that while I might have made mistakes, I was a victim in this circumstance." But if, as CNN reports, Gaetz shared with GOP colleagues naked photos of women he said he slept with, she said, "he engaged in the very practice he defended me from — and should resign immediately."

Katie Hill Calls Out Matt Gaetz's Hypocrisy Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Sanjana Karanth
Sanjana Karanth
·Reporter, HuffPost
Tue, April 6, 2021, 12:09 AM

Former Rep. Katie Hill (D-Calif.), whom Rep. Matt Gaetz defended when she was the victim of leaked nude photos, said Monday that the Florida Republican must resign if the sexual misconduct allegations against him are true.

The ex-congresswoman, who resigned in October 2019 in response to the leaked photos and allegations of a sexual relationship with her staffer, wrote an op-ed in Vanity Fair detailing her now-ended friendship with Gaetz and her reaction to reports that he is under federal investigation for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old girl and paying for her to travel with him across state lines.

“Some of these actions are criminal and some of them should be,” Hill wrote. “All are morally reprehensible and unacceptable for a lawmaker. If there is even a fraction of truth to these reports, he should resign immediately.”

The New York Times reported last week that the Justice Department is investigating Gaetz for federal sex trafficking violations related to the alleged sexual misconduct, specifically related to the 17-year-old girl. The age of consent under federal law is 18 years, and taking the underage girl across state lines to have sex would violate federal sex trafficking laws.

The allegations stemmed from a larger investigation into Gaetz’s friend, Seminole County, Florida, tax collector Joel Greenberg. Greenberg was indicted last year on federal sex trafficking charges allegedly involving the same 17-year-old girl Gaetz is being investigated for potentially having sex with. Gaetz is accused of working with Greenberg to recruit girls and women online for sex and sending them money in exchange, as well as taking drugs with the female targets before having sex, according to the Times.

Payments in exchange for sex could lead Gaetz to be charged with trafficking women under “force, fraud or coercion.” Providing someone under 18 with anything of value in exchange for sex ― such as meals, hotels, drugs and alcohol ― would also be a federal child sex trafficking violation.

Gaetz has vehemently denied the allegations, saying that any gifts he gave to female sexual interests were because he was a “generous partner.” The 38-year-old has also alleged that the reports are part of an extortion plot against him and his family by a former DOJ employee.

“Let me state it as clearly as possible: If, despite his denials, Matt Gaetz did have sex with a minor, if he did provide girls and young women with drugs and money and gifts in exchange for sex, if he did ask these girls and young women to recruit other women for the same purpose, and if he did show his colleagues images of nude women without their consent, he needs to be held responsible,” Hill wrote.

Gaetz also published an op-ed Monday repeating that he refuses to resign in response to the allegations, claiming in The Washington Examiner that his behavior “was not and is not illegal.” He also mentioned his defense of Hill at a time “when her own Democratic colleagues wouldn’t.”

Hill resigned from Congress over allegations that she had sexual relationships with one of her male congressional staffers ― which she denied ― and a female campaign staffer, which she confirmed and apologized for being “inappropriate.” While the scandal came out, conservative news outlets published nude photos of Hill that she said was in response to a difficult divorce from her husband at the time.

Gaetz, who was on the same House committee as Hill, was one of the few lawmakers who stood by her amid what many would consider revenge porn. In her op-ed, Hill said that Gaetz defended her “at one of the darkest moments of my life, when I was feeling more alone than I ever had.”

The former congresswoman said that the two remained in contact now and then but that their communication eventually ceased after Gaetz’s attack on former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum and after his continued support of Donald Trump’s election lies.

Despite the fallout, Hill said she had initially ignored addressing the Times report in hopes Gaetz would be innocent. But, as she notes in her op-ed, CNN then reported that Gaetz had a history of showing lawmakers photos and videos on his phone of naked women he claimed to have slept with ― a topic that rings personal for the former congresswoman.

“If true, Matt had engaged in the very practice he’d defended me from,” she wrote. “Sharing intimate images or videos of someone without their consent should be illegal, plain and simple. It shouldn’t matter if it was done to hurt someone, as with revenge porn, or to brag about your sexual conquests, like Matt has been accused of doing.”
