LINK (Fyi - This Is From Last Year) Iraqi Army Confirms Capture of “Jumbo” IS Leader 18th January, 2020 Iraq War Media Cell has confirmed the capture of an obese Islamic State (IS) senior member in Mosul after his pictures at the time of capture went viral on social media. Several pictures were circulated by social media users in the past few days, one showing an overweight man laying down on the floor while the other showing the security forces loading him onto a flatbed truck allegedly because he could not fit in a police vehicle. War Media Cell, part and parcel of Iraqi army, said in a statement that the man, identified as Abu Abdul Bari, also known as Shifa al-Nima, was captured during an operation in Mosul, north of Iraq. Bari served as IS's Mufti - the religious leader who issues decrees - during the group's rule in Mosul between 2014 and 2017. According to the statement, Bari issued multiple orders of execution against clerics who refused to follow IS after Mosul fell into the hands of the jihadists. He also ordered the explosion of religious sites and the burial place of the biblical prophet Jonah in the city which were considered historical locations. He was captured earlier this week by an elite SWAT team of the Iraqi armed forces.
