The Basra Oil Company announced that it has begun implementing plans for maintenance, rehabilitation and increasing the capacities of the storage and export system at oil sites and ports, while confirming the continuation of understandings with the Kuwaiti side to invest in joint fields.

The director of the company, Khaled Hamza Al-Shara, said in a statement reported by Al-Sabah newspaper, which was reviewed by the information, that “The Ministry of Oil has undertaken the maintenance, rehabilitation and increase of the storage and export capacities of the oil sites and ports to accommodate the available quantities extracted from crude oil from the oil licensing fields in West Qurna and Rumaila.

Al-Zubayr and the national effort, including the fields of Nahran Omar, Artawi and Al-Lahis.

Al-Shara pointed out that "the rate of total crude oil exports for the month of April from the Basra oil ports is stable at two million and 700 thousand standard barrels per day," indicating that "oil production will continue at this declared level in accordance with ministerial instructions under the OPEC Plus agreement."

He explained that "the rate of crude oil production in the Basra fields currently touches 2 million and 570 thousand barrels," noting that "the recent agreement of OPEC imposed on member states a reduction rate to control the market balance, and the supply resulting from the increase in production and the collapse of global demand as a result of the repercussions of the Corona virus on the economies of the world."

Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed on Tuesday that his country is pushing for a convergence of views between the Gulf and Iran.

Hussein said in a press statement that "internal instability affected relations with the external environment, but we passed the stage of discontinuity with countries and entered the stage of cooperation in various fields."

He added that "foreign policy during the government of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi is based on a set of foundations, the first of which is to be active in the regional environment and take the initiative."

He added, "The second line of foreign policy lies in creating a state of balance with the regional environment, while the third is based on common interests and keeping others away from interfering in internal affairs."

A few days ago, media reported, citing Iraqi government sources, that Baghdad hosted a meeting between Saudi and Iranian officials in an attempt by Iraq to bridge the gap between the two countries.

Iraqi Army Confirms Capture of “Jumbo” IS Leader

Iraq War Media Cell has confirmed the capture of an obese Islamic State (IS) senior member in Mosul after his pictures at the time of capture went viral on social media.

Several pictures were circulated by social media users in the past few days, one showing an overweight man laying down on the floor while the other showing the security forces loading him onto a flatbed truck allegedly because he could not fit in a police vehicle.

War Media Cell, part and parcel of Iraqi army, said in a statement that the man, identified as Abu Abdul Bari, also known as Shifa al-Nima, was captured during an operation in Mosul, north of Iraq.
Bari served as IS's Mufti - the religious leader who issues decrees - during the group's rule in Mosul between 2014 and 2017.

According to the statement, Bari issued multiple orders of execution against clerics who refused to follow IS after Mosul fell into the hands of the jihadists.

He also ordered the explosion of religious sites and the burial place of the biblical prophet Jonah in the city which were considered historical locations.

He was captured earlier this week by an elite SWAT team of the Iraqi armed forces.

Online pictures of the arrest of Islamic State official Abu Abdul Bari, show that he had to be crammed into the bed of a police pickup truck after his capture in Mosul. Iraqi officials announced Bari's arrest on Thursday, January 16, 2020.
