I would rather see the exchange rate be lowered to 1600 because that is how they are removing the large denominations from the people and hopefully they will RV sometime after. If they change it back to 1190 or 1200, that will undo everything they have accomplished

I agree. They are not going to change the rate back to last year levels. They must stay the course and see this through. Then they can open up the way for an RV/RI. These politicians are just angry their corruption has been taken away from them via the auctions.

Fairwaysandgreens you hit the nail on the head!! I was wondering why in the hell would you want to return the rate back to 1190!! Only a crook would want to go back to that rate so they can steal more dollars and send them to Iran!!  SMH! Every minister that wants the rate to change back to 1190 is holding up the budget and loyal to Iran. Damn, you would think they have stolen enough!! The sooner we can get the rate to 1600 the better!! Now I see why the IMF recommended the rate be changed to 1600 so they can expedite the removal of the 000's and stop the auction. Go Iraq Go Rv!!

Al-Sadr said in a tweet on Twitter: "Once again, we see the House of Representatives, having been unable to vote for the budget due to political, partisan, sectarian and {nationalism} differences, forgetting the suffering of their people."

They should announce that the budget for 2020 has no money left so until a new budget is approved there can be no monthly wages paid to parliament members.

That lightning bolt you just saw ? That was members voting on the Budget.

Swish, it's a done deal.

Very true. Am well aware of the wait. Been in this about 15 years. I just find it so hard to believe that after all this time Iraq can still strike a nerve that they've missed in the past. Thought I would be numb by now...

image.jpeg.2bc85391e367ad02bd09376359a4285f.jpeg

29th March, 2021

MP for the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Khaleda Khalil, described the bill as "someone infected with Coronavirus," noting that it is going through "critical moments between recovery or death by suffocation."

The deputy said in a television interview, that "the budget was infected with the Corona virus, and it is similar to the patient when he suffers from suffocation and in his critical moments."

And she added, "Either the budget recovers and passes by consensus, or it will die and suffocate at a time when we are waiting for agreement on it for the sake of the country and to move it to safety and treat its inflamed joints, which are the lack of services and the reconstruction of cities, especially in the center and the south, in which our people suffer because of that."

Yesterday, the House of Representatives failed to hold a session to vote on the budget due to persistent disagreements over its provisions.

Parliament has not set a date to vote on the budget

Tuesday 30th March 2021

Baghdad: Abdulrahman Ibrahim

The Chamber of Representatives was almost empty during the session scheduled for the vote on the draft federal budget bill yesterday, the day before, and its fate became unknown, without setting a new date for its passage.

This scene in the political reality came because of the recent sharp disagreements regarding this law, and according to press statements by members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, "There are four points on which they disagreed that caused the vote to be suspended."

Committee member Muhammad al-Shabaki revealed that the most prominent of which are some controversial points in Article 11 related to the share of the Kurdistan region, foreign loans, investment projects and the development of regions. .

In turn, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Shirwan Mirza, confirmed that "the fate of the budget bill has become unknown due to the new differences that have emerged between the parliamentary blocs," indicating that "new disagreements arose between the parliamentary blocs that caused the budget vote not to take place."

He added, "Some blocs submitted new demands in addition to determining the exchange rate of the dollar and did not reach an agreement between them," noting that "the Kurdistan region's share has nothing to do with postponing the meeting."

Regarding setting a new date for voting on the budget, Mirza said, "There is no new date for voting on the budget, and the meetings ended without setting any date for the next session."

The MP for the Saeron bloc, Salam al-Shammari, held political blocs that he did not name, responsible for the continuous delay in approving the general budget for the current year.

Al-Shammari said in a statement, that "the continuous delay has harmed the economic and financial situation of the country and its sons, and is evidence of the desire of some to weaken the role of Parliament for political and electoral goals."

He added, "Sairoun's alliance with the approval of the budget quickly will never be an obstacle to it as long as it serves the country's situation and improves the condition of its citizens."

Al-Shammari stressed, "the necessity for the political blocs to be aware that the continuous delay is weakening the parliament and its influential role in particular and the political process in general, and it must accelerate the fulfillment of its duty towards its people."

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, warned of the consequences of postponing the vote on the draft fiscal budget for 2021, and advised the blocs to forget their differences and approve them as soon as possible.

Interest in digital currencies

Tuesday 30th March 2021

Saad Al-Taie

, in the past few years, currencies of a new type have appeared, radically different from the traditional currencies known for thousands of years, whether paper or metal, namely digital currencies, which came as a result of the expansion of digital technology applications in all areas of contemporary life, including Multiple economic and commercial transactions.

Digital currencies have many features that distinguish them from traditional currencies, as they greatly facilitate the processes of financial transactions immediately and very quickly, and complete transactions without the need for physical currencies, which take a large space, and it also facilitates the sale and purchase of various goods and services in a manner.
Quick and very short for buying and selling, as well as transferring money very quickly from one place to another and from one country to another.
As well as facilitating the procedures of commercial dealing and the process of commodity exchange.

The use of digital currencies leads to dispensing with the use of traditional physical currencies, whether paper or metal, and to get rid of the problems that accompany the exchange operations, through which they are carried out, such as the slow conduct of these operations and the constant and very great need to physically issue these currencies from time to time, which You need expenses for papers, metals, inks, colors, and other materials added to traditional currency paper and the large security precautions that accompany their printing.

Some central banks in a number of economically developed countries of the world have begun issuing their own currencies to develop payment systems in their countries in line with the communication and digital economic environment that is currently expanding, and the secretions of which are communication and Modern information technology. .

Also, this important procedure comes to regulate the process of important issuance of money in accordance with the powers of governments and the legitimate authorities of the country, within the random issuance of digital currencies, which began with the issuance of unknown parties in the Internet and those who do not have this right or this privilege.

And organizing this process so that it is legitimate and legal according to what is recognized in international laws, which are exclusively authorized by this issuance, and in our country the competent authorities are supposed to pay attention to work on issuing our digital currency, in order to keep pace with the current global monetary and financial developments, and in a manner that develops the monetary and financial system For our country and keep it up to date with Modern global regulations .

Pass the budget tomorrow ? Ha !  A tidbit from the Strategic Framework Agreement stipulates that the US pledged that it would  help Iraq regain the prosperity it had prior to when Saddam's statue toppled . Some believe that $3,22 was an inflated value ,who knows . In any war situation ,the victor claims "booty" , gold , cash ,jewelry , art etc, , not the kind you may be thinking . We took no maiden virgins . The gold the US took out of Iraq is mind boggling , semis filled with all they could carry , the "largest bank heist in human history" The US still has this gold ,and it's not at Fort Knox  but perhaps at some very remote heavily guarded state of the art facility.

This evening .. a meeting of the Shiite forces to discuss the controversial points in the budget law

1617114477860.png

30th March, 2021

A deputy from the Al-Fateh Parliamentary Bloc confirmed, on Tuesday, that a meeting of the Shiite political forces had been held to resolve controversial points in the Federal Budget Law.

The deputy for the Al-Fateh Parliamentary Bloc, Ahmed Al-Kanani, told Shafaq News:

The Shiite political blocs will hold a meeting this evening to resolve the controversial points in the General Budget Law for 2021.

He added;

The points of disagreement can be resolved during this meeting in order to proceed with the vote on the budget law.

Al-Kinani indicated that there is a political orientation to hold a session tomorrow, Wednesday, and vote on the General Budget Law.

The differences focus on Article 11 of the draft budget and related to the share of the Kurdistan Region, which stipulates that it will deliver 250 thousand barrels of oil per day, with its tax revenues to Baghdad, in return for receiving 12.6 percent of the budget.

Political blocs also reject what was stipulated in the budget to exclude a segment of citizens whose monthly salaries exceed 1.5 million dinars from benefiting from the ration card, as well as returning 30 thousand of those whose contracts had been canceled from the popular crowd to service.

Other blocs refuse to vote on the budget if the exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar is not modified, by returning it to its previous state.

Kuwait Finance: The remaining amount of Iraqi compensation is two billion and 99 million dollars

1599909712618.jpg

30th March 2021

The Minister of Finance, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Khalifa Hamadeh, revealed that the remaining amount of Iraqi compensation to Kuwait amounts to two billion and 99 million dollars, stressing that Iraq has not requested, either directly or through intermediaries, to cancel the remaining compensation.

In his response to the Kuwaiti parliament’s question, Hamadeh clarified that "the remaining amount is paid at quarterly intervals."

He added that "the payment process continues in this manner until the full payment of the remaining amount, and it is expected to complete the payment of the full compensation in the middle of 2022, in the event that the price of oil stabilizes at the level of $ 60 per barrel, as the amount of compensation is linked to international oil prices and levels of Iraqi oil sales."

And Iraq must deposit 5 percent of its export revenues from sales of oil, its products and gas, in a UN fund established under the name of the United Nations Compensation Fund.

In 1991, an international compensation commission was formed, which obligated Baghdad to pay $ 52.4 billion in compensation to individuals, companies, governmental organizations and others, who suffered direct losses resulting from the invasion and occupation of Kuwait.
