Shabibilicious
Champ, Major Reportedly Sent Home To Delaware After Alleged 'Biting Incident' Mary Papenfuss ·Trends Reporter, HuffPost Tue, March 9, 2021, 3:59 AM President Joe Biden’s two German shepherds were sent home to Wilmington, Delaware, last week after an alleged “biting incident” involving the younger dog and a member of the White House security staff, sources told CNN. Details weren’t immediately available. It’s unclear whether the exile is permanent. Major, who was adopted from the Delaware Humane Association, is 3 years old and the far more rambunctious of the two dogs. Champ is 13. According to CNN, Major has displayed other “agitated” behavior at the White House, including jumping, barking and “charging” at staff. First lady Jill Biden described Champ and Major in an interview with People magazine last month as “really good dogs,” though she also noted, “They really don’t have any rules.” She said both had been well-trained. Last month during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the first lady said she had been working on getting the dogs settled in the White House after their move there in January. They were the first pets in the White House in four years. Sources told CNN that the dogs were used to being at the Bidens’ Delaware home with minders while the first lady was traveling. She’s currently on the West Coast visiting military families. The contrast in the two dogs’ temperament was clear in the holiday tweet below from Joe Biden: https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/champ-major-biden-delaware-home-biting-085934692.html GO RV, then BV Edited March 9, 2021 by Shabibilicious
Shabibilicious
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirms Major Biden was a bad dog, has no update on Biden cat Peter Weber Wed, March 10, 2021, 1:42 AM At Tuesday's White House press briefing, Press Secretary Jen Psaki fielded not one but two questions about Major, one of the Biden family's two German Shepherds, and reports he was involved in a "biting incident." Major and the older Biden dog, Champ, "are still getting acclimated and accustomed to their new surroundings and new people," Psaki said. "And on Monday, the first family's younger dog, Major, was surprised by an unfamiliar person and acted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the individual." (The individual is fine, reportedly.) The injury "was handled by the White House medical unit, with no further treatment needed," Psaki said. Major and Champ's exile to Delaware had been planned before the incident, timed with first lady Jill Biden's tour of military bases, "and the dogs will return to the White House soon," she added. Answering the second question about Major — "Another dogs question? Okay" — Psaki would not confirm that a Secret Service agent was the person injured but reassured the reporter, and America, that Major will not be euthanized. The White House press corps wasn't done. "We heard a lot about dogs — we were promised a White House cat," one reporter noted. "What happened to that?" Psaki threw up her hands. "Where is the cat? Today is a good day for the cat. I don't have any update on the cat. We know the cat will break the internet." For now, anyway, the internet had the Biden dogs — and Oprah Winfrey's bombshell interview of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, of course. The Late Show helpfully combined the two. Shabibilicious
Biden says Major, his German Shepherd, is out of the dog house Scroll back up to restore default view. Wed, March 17, 2021, 9:50 AM WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Joe Biden says his rescue dog, a German Shepherd named Major, is being trained after an incident last week but has not been banished from the White House, adding the pet is still adjusting to life there surrounded by strangers. "Major did not bite someone and penetrate the skin," Biden told the ABC program "Good Morning America" in an interview that aired on Wednesday. "You turn the corner and there's two people you don't know at all and they move, and he moves to protect," Biden added, referring to U.S. Secret Service and other staff who the German Shepherd encounters at the 18-acre (7-hectare) White House complex. "He's a sweet dog. Eighty-five percent of the people there love him. All he does is lick them and wag his tail," said Biden, who moved into the White House with his two dogs after he became president in January. "The dog's being trained now. ... I didn't banish him to home" in Delaware, Biden added. The White House last week said the dog had returned to Biden's home state while the president and first lady Jill Biden were traveling but did not directly address media reports of an incident involving security staff. Asked if Major was now "out of the dog house," Biden said: "Yes." Biden adopted Major in 2018 from the Delaware Humane Society to join his other German Shepherd. That dog, Champ, is already familiar with Washington life. Biden got Champ in 2008, the year he was elected vice president under President Barack Obama. https://news.yahoo.com/biden-says-major-german-shepherd-135010396.html GO RV, then BV
nstoolman1
That figures. One medical report says injuries were attended to. So, did the President lie? Presidents dog gets special treatment. Anybody else, it gets put down. 1
