The United States - Eastern March 4: The White House revealed the features of US President Joe Biden's national security strategy.
In the 23-page directive that touched on the Middle East file, the White House confirmed that the United States will work with regional partners to deter Iranian aggression and disrupt Al Qaeda and its terrorist networks. Preventing the return of ISIS and addressing humanitarian crises.
The White House also stressed that Washington will never hesitate to use force when needed to defend its vital interests, but that diplomacy will be the first resort to advance the interests of the United States globally.

im going with they sense weakness , for a US President that has received more election votes than any president in modern history he would / should be out and about receiving ticker tape greetings anywhere in the country he goes but instead we got hiding behind razor wire on 1600 pennsylvania ave. with guarded 24/7 military protection ... somebody got bamboozled for all the world to see ... shaking head side to side .... we wait

To prevent a repeat of the Iraq war and striking Syria ... American efforts to withdraw the mandate to use military force from the president

world News

Reuters

US lawmakers from the Democratic Party announced on Friday that they would work within weeks on legislation to amend the mandate for the use of military force that presidents of both parties have used for decades to justify attacks abroad.

Representative Gregory Mix said that the Foreign Affairs Committee, which he chairs in the House of Representatives, will begin to discuss the abolition of the "mandate to use military force" that allowed for the war in Iraq in 2002.

"I intend to prepare legislation in the Foreign Affairs Committee in the coming weeks to cancel it (the mandate)," Mix said in a video conference with a group of Democrats.

Senators are also seeking to return the power to declare war to Congress from the White House.

In the wake of air strikes in Syria ordered by President Joe Biden, a bipartisan group on March 3 introduced legislation to repeal the mandate to use military force in Iraq in 2002 and another mandate approved in 1991.

The House of Representatives approved last year to revoke the 2002 mandate to use military force, but the measure did not win approval from the then Republican-dominated Senate.

The constitution grants the power to declare war to Congress, not the president. This authority changed after Congress approved permits for "the use of military force" that do not expire by a specific date, in decisions related to Iraq and in authorizing the war against al-Qaeda in the aftermath of the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Rep. Barbara Lee said at the press conference that "authorizing the use of military force" was used more than 40 times to justify attacks in 19 countries.

"The time has come for us to end these never-ending wars," she added.

Adam Schiff, head of the House Intelligence Committee, said any new mandate should have a fixed date and apply to specific countries and should be consulted with Congress.

The White House had said a few days ago that President Joe Biden believes that legislation "to authorize the use of military force" should be reviewed.
