The information / Baghdad ..

The Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee revealed, on Sunday, that the US embassy in Baghdad had interfered with changing the exchange rate of the dollar, which sparked a wave of popular discontent and affected the poor classes, returning the current US presence as an "occupation."

A member of the committee, MP Hamid al-Moussawi, said in an interview followed by "the information", that "the American embassy in the capital, Baghdad, interfered with the economic paper that the government of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi announced earlier."

Moussawi added, "The US embassy also interfered with the issue of changing the exchange rate of the dollar, which the government recently approved."

"The current US presence is an occupation, in contrast to the House of Representatives decision, which stipulated the removal of all foreign forces, led by the Americans," Moussawi, a deputy from the Al-Fateh Alliance, said. End / 25

  • Sounds like Iranian propaganda trying to influence blame for the harm to poor Iraqis due to the revision of the value, and a good way to promote "occupation" and expelling of US troops from Iraq.

  • Could be the government blaming the US for the mistake they made.

  • How does an "embassy" take over a country's central bank and Parliamentary Finance Committee to demand a change be made in the value of their currency? Perhaps I am naive, but the only country at this time I could see having that kind of influence would be Iran because of their continued power grab of Iraq and the Iranian sympathizers in the government. If the US had a reason to want their currency devalued, which we have done, it would come out of the US Treasury and not an empty embassy.

The us embassy interfered to change the rate? This is getting good. Let me revise that. This is the best article i have ever read. When the us interfered, this is a good sign that means the us help the goi, cbi, minister of finance to walk and move faster and faster to make a quick decision to change the rate from 1460 to 3.22 usd. When the us is allowed to step in and get involved to change the rate, then the rate should increase as high as possible let's say at least 3.22 usd or higher ( 1:1 is pretty low ). Let this be true and come on iraq do it immediately and no more BS, no more delay, and no more holiday.

the article is simply the inept weak iraqi leadership deflecting responsibility for their inability to move the country and its citizens forward while those in power in iraq have pillaged and destroyed everything in sight , all the while casting blame on america with their hate filled rhetoric and no IMO its not saying the usa sets the exchange rate of the iqd in iraq , if anyone country might it would be their wonderful neighbors iran ..... cheers dv'ers all the best :cigar:
