Baghdad and Washington are discussing the extradition of wanted persons to Iraq

 Monday January 18, 2021 - 11:09 GMT

The head of the Iraqi Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, discussed with the US ambassador to Baghdad Matthew Toller the file of extradition to Iraq.

The World - Iraq

A statement by the Judicial Council said that Zidan received the Ambassador of the United States of America in Baghdad, Matthew Toller .

He added that the two sides discussed the issue of handing over the wanted suspects to the Iraqi judiciary who are on American soil.

We recall that the US Treasury Department included the name of the Chief of Staff of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Abdul Aziz al-Muhammadawi, "Abu Fadak", on the sanctions list, which angered the Iraqi people and the officials' condemnation of this unfair step.
