The Committee to Monitor the Implementation of the Governmental Program and Strategic Planning demanded, today, Wednesday, to limit the bleeding of the dollar and to cancel the customs and tax exemptions granted to countries and government institutions.

Committee member Anaam Al-Khuzaie said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, "Returning the dollar exchange to its previous exchange rate is necessary, calling on parliament members to implement this public demand because stimulating national production and limiting the dollar's drain is not done through the policy of raising the exchange rate because of its value." Serious repercussions and repercussions outweigh the intended benefit. "

According to the statement, Al-Khuzai stressed the need to "target imported goods that crowd out counterparts of the national product, to provide support for emerging national industries, with an emphasis on preserving the dollar reserve at the Central Bank by collecting customs duties for imported goods on the basis of what was sold of foreign currency from During the currency sale window, provided that the differences are settled after entering the imported goods and audited by the concerned authorities.

And she stressed the need to "abolish all customs and tax exemptions and exceptions granted to countries and government institutions for two purposes, the first is to stimulate the national product, and the second is to provide abundant financial resources instead of borrowing to finance public spending."

Economy News - Baghdad

Informed sources announced that the government is currently working on establishing a customs barrier around the capital, Baghdad, to prevent imported goods entering from ports outside its control in the Kurdistan region and central and southern Iraq.

The sources told Al-Iqtisad News that the customs barrier begins to work on it, after the approval of the Minister of Finance, Ali Allawi, and it is similar to what Haider al-Abadi applied to confront the smuggled goods by the Kurdistan region and southern Iraq.

The sources noted that the companies that will implement this project are Iraqi, private, and not governmental, explaining that this measure will make the goods high in the capital Baghdad and reach the provinces of Diyala and Salah al-Din.

The sources pointed out that the Iraqi economy is currently facing great challenges represented by the work of the border crossings, as the goods are still entering without paying a customs tax in favor of the government because of corruption.

Baghdad - Mawazine News
Baghdad and Riyadh have agreed to activate commercial and tourist maritime transport between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and to allow the passage of various vehicles, through the land crossing between the two countries.
The Iraqi Minister of Transport, Captain Nasser Hussein Al-Shibli, discussed during his presidency of the meeting of the Transport Committee, Border Crossings and Ports, and within the work of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, the work mechanism for the opening of the border crossing point between the two countries, in front of the movement of vehicles and cars.
The minister affirmed his follow-up with the Border Ports Authority to implement the automation of customs procedures, in order to unify customs tariffs, in all Iraqi ports, referring to coordination with the General Secretariat of the Iraqi Council of Ministers on the Iraqi-Saudi customs cooperation memorandum, in preparation for its entry into force.
For his part, the Saudi side expressed the Kingdom's readiness to discuss the electronic linking process for new and Arar ports between the two countries, upon completion of the automation of customs procedures at the Arar port from the Iraqi side, to become ready for the linking process with the automated system of Saudi customs.
It was also agreed to form a technical team from both parties, to activate the maritime transport between the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr, the Saudi ports for passengers and goods, and all exports and imports.

Great benefits.
According to economists, these measures will contribute to stimulating trade and investment exchange, import and export between the two countries, in addition to the movement of citizens between them, for the purposes of tourism, treatment, study, and so on.
Members of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the governorates of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, in statements to Sky News, said: "The benefits and returns of this positive activation will naturally affect the Kurdistan region as well, and stimulate the wheel of the Iraqi economy in general."
The specialists believe that this step will contribute to providing highly competitive alternatives to the dominance of Turkish and Iranian products and goods in the Iraqi markets in general, and the markets of the Kurdistan region in particular, especially since Saudi, Emirati and Gulf products in general are distinguished by their quality and compliance with strict standards and measures, in terms of their compatibility with public health requirements. And the quality of raw materials, and the modernity of all manufacturing and packaging methods, and packaging.
The new port - Arar, the Iraqi-Saudi border, was reopened in November of last year 2020, after 30 years of closure, following the second Gulf War, and the occupation of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein's regime.

The Minister of Finance reveals shocking information about the outlets and identifies "accomplices"

{Economist: Al Furat News} The Minister of Finance, Ali Allawi, revealed shocking information about the border crossings and the rampant corruption in them.

"There is a kind of collusion between corrupt officials, political parties, gangs and businessmen," Allawi told AFP, noting that "this system as a whole contributes to the plunder of the state."
He expressed his regret, saying, "The price of the smallest job in customs ranges from 50 thousand dollars to one hundred thousand dollars, and sometimes increases to many times that."
Allawi stressed, "We must get seven billion dollars from customs annually, but in reality, only ten to 12 percent of customs resources reach the Ministry of Finance."
The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said that he visited the border crossings with Iran last July that there were those who described them as "ghosts" working in the outlets and ordered "to shoot them."

As part of the government's efforts to control the ports, the joint operations commissioned the Basra Operations Command to fully control the Shalamjah port with Iran and the Safwan port with Kuwait, as well as assigning the Naval Force Command to fully control the sea ports at Umm Qasr port.
From Basra, which is the economic lung of Iraq, Al-Kazemi confirmed after chairing a cabinet session there last year, that the ports of Iraq will be under the authority of the state, indicating that the army will protect the ports, and any officer regardless of his rank is not working properly will be transferred to the borders.
And with the declared governmental and parliamentary approval, the ports of Iraq are one of the largest sectors in which the scourge of corruption is ravaged, which is confirmed by the language of numbers as well, as the volume of waste in this sector annually ranges from 6 to 8 billion dollars, due to the control of armed groups and parties over it.

The information / Baghdad

A member of the Parliamentary Economic Committee, Representative Nada Shaker Jawdat, called on Wednesday to adopt the principle of direct cutting to ward off corruption at the Iraqi border crossings.

"95% of the goods and goods in the Iraqi market are imported, and if they are included in taxes in a real and transparent manner, the revenues will be very high and the government will pay to dispense with raising the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, but unfortunately the ports have not been fully subject to the government and are still," Jawdat said Some of them are under the control of parties, personalities and influential people.

And she added, “Adopting the principle of direct shearing will be the best solution in warding off the corruption of the outlets by taking the customs tariff directly from any merchant or company that imports goods for their purchase of dollars from the Central Bank, which guarantees that the dollar is going to import exclusively and that the tariff is met directly without any other mazes. “.

She pointed out that "the revenues of the outlets are very large because the volume of import in Iraq is enormous and large, stressing that the principle of direct cutting of the customs tariff will not see the light without decisive government decisions implemented on the ground."

The border outlets in Iraq suffer from great corruption in light of the control of influential forces and parties over some of them. ”Ended 25F
