If true:well alright then. If this is an attempt to say just about anything to save his worthless hide, Abadi better watch his back.
Why is this fool releasing sensitive state info if this be true ? Yet another security breach to cause a greater rift between the 2 countries.
Perhaps he should be arrested for subversion....send a message to others to keep them from playing fast and loose with classified info.

Baghdad / Al-Mawred News

Baghdad/

Former Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi responded, on Friday, to Haider al-Abadi, head of the victory coalition, following statements made by the latter about the plane that targeted "the engineer and Soleimani" in Baghdad.

According to a statement by his media office, Abdul Mahdi confirmed that "his government has not granted approval for any aircraft," noting that "the movement of aircraft and approvals for them have specific contexts, the highest authority in which is the commander in chief and then the chain of military and civilian leaders, each according to his responsibilities, level of requests and their importance." The official records are not consistent with what was rumored and rumored that the plane that targeted the leaders near the airport obtained Iraqi approval. "

Abdul-Mahdi considered that "these are sensitive topics that affect the supreme interests of the country, and they should not be neglected on the one hand, nor should they be neglected, intentionally or unintentionally, into verbal speculations on the other hand, so that the blood of the martyrs is wasted, the papers are mixed, and the threads of the issue are lost," as he put it.

The text of the statement follows:

The media office of former Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi categorically denies what is being circulated by some media outlets that official Iraqi authorities have given approvals for an American aircraft that targeted the martyrs, Engineer, Suleimani and their comrades, may God have mercy on them all. On the contrary, there was strict adherence to the rules of movement, whether on the ground or in the air, with violations occurring from time to time.

Since the summer of 2019, a dangerous escalation has occurred due to the bombing and mutual bombardment of the military headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces or of the sites of the presence of the coalition forces and the embassy, with which the Iraqi leadership was forced to stress the prevention of all forms of drone and non-drone aircraft except with the approval of the official Iraqi authorities. The Joint Operations Command issued a statement published in the media on 15/8/2019 after a meeting of the National Security Council chaired by the Prime Minister at the time in which he confirmed several decisions, including with regard to the issue of aviation, by “canceling all approvals for flying in Iraqi airspace ((reconnaissance, armed reconnaissance) Combat aircraft, helicopters, drones of all kinds)) for all Iraqi and non-Iraqi parties, and restricting approvals to be exclusively from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces or whoever authorized him fundamentally. However, the situation continued to escalate rapidly, especially after the bombing of a popular crowd camp in Al-Qaim and the fall of dozens of martyrs and wounded. What followed that was a large funeral of martyrs and a sit-in in front of the US embassy, followed by a repeated request from the US official authorities to allow new forces to enter Iraq or to allow coalition aircraft to use the prohibited areas or to use Iraqi frequencies, or to enter the Patriot system, which was rejected in writing and explicitly despite the urgency. American. This is the tip of the iceberg of correspondence and their dates showing the condition of approvals before any movement or action, whether before and after the assassination of the leaders of Al-Nasr on 3/1/2020, confirming the August 15 statement referred to above. 1- On 2/1/2020, that is, hours before the assassination, an official letter was received from Lieutenant General Robert Pat White, Commander of the Coalition Forces, explaining, after the sit-in operation in front of the US Embassy, "the need for better coordination and in coordination with the Joint Operations Command, request the removal of restrictions imposed on The coalition and allowing entry to the restricted areas of the Iraqi airspace In addition, we ask the Iraqi Air Defense Command to immediately restore the coalition's radar signal. These measures will help improve our ability to share information and cooperate and ensure the safety of all of us, ”message excerpts ended.

2- None of the Iraqi authorities granted such permission. On the contrary, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations sent a letter to Lieutenant General White on 2/1/2020 at 14:24:41 in which it was stated: “Various media outlets reported duplicate news of hundreds of arrivals. From members of the new American forces to Iraq from the 82nd Airborne Division to protect the United States Embassy in Baghdad. We clarify that any increase in the number of American forces or the introduction of new forces officially requires a request to the Iraqi government to obtain its approval. Achieving full protection for it without the need for any foreign forces, and the security forces are still implementing the full insurance plan and procedures are continuing in that. Forces. The Joint Operations Command follows with interest all developments and carries out its duties through coordination and command control measures in dealing with any security threat to military bases across the country as well as to the missions and embassies of countries present on Iraqi soil, as it is an Iraqi security responsibility, "the message excerpts ended.

3- What was mentioned above before the airport operation was confirmed by Mr. Adel Abdul Mahdi in his public speech before the esteemed House of Representatives on 5/1/2020, commenting: “US helicopters and marchers took over the airspace of Baghdad without permission from the Iraqi government and the government began receiving requests to bring in more American soldiers to protect the American bases and the American embassy, to enter the no-fly zones, and to provide the American side with frequencies and air signals, which is a matter for which the Iraqi government refused to give approval. Or unilateral action. " This section ends the speech.

4- The message of Lieutenant General White on 2/1/2020 came a few hours before the assassination. When, how, and by whom were the approvals issued? One said, "The plane that targeted the commanders near the airport obtained Iraqi approval." Were official confirmations issued by the concerned parties confirming the aircraft, its number, type, routes, objectives, and what it carries, as necessary, so that we can talk about granting approvals, whatever they are?

We see ourselves in the midst of an escalation process, while our goal is to alleviate tension and ensure that no attacks will take place either by the US forces, or by Iran or any other party. Our questions are numerous, including: Will this system be used against the strikes by Israel, which has attacked us repeatedly, as we were informed by your representatives in particular? Or against ISIS or any other country? In addition, we have a decision to withdraw foreign forces from Iraq, issued by the government and parliament. The introduction of "Patriot" systems will not be interpreted as a defense of the existing forces whose numbers are gradually reduced, but rather will be interpreted in the opposite direction, which will complicate more than the situation and mix the papers in a way that does not bear the interest of the United States, Iraq and the region. "The message excerpts ended.

6- Anyone who possesses real information about the incident must submit it to the judiciary active in this matter, and it is wrong to accuse parties who have no immediate relationship to the matter. Aircraft movement and approvals have specific contexts, with the highest authority being the Commander in Chief, then the chain of military and civilian leaders, each according to his responsibilities, level of requests and importance. According to the daily orders and official records, there is nothing that matches what was rumored and rumored that "the plane that targeted the leaders near the airport obtained Iraqi approval."

And last but not least, we say that these are sensitive issues that affect the supreme interests of the country. They should not be neglected on the one hand, nor should they be neglected, intentionally or unintentionally, into verbal speculations on the other hand, so that the blood of the martyrs is wasted, the papers are mixed, and the threads of the issue are lost. May God protect the souls of the martyrs with his vast mercy, and may God protect our countries and peoples from the ploys of enemies and sedition.
