Mubasher: The Iraqi Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, at the head of an Iraqi ministerial delegation, arrived in Cairo on Wednesday evening. On an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt that will last 4 days.

Upon its arrival in Cairo, the delegation was received by Egyptian Minister of Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat.

This came during the resignation of Mr. Al-Qusayr, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Muhammad Karim, the Iraqi Minister of Agriculture, within the framework of the visit by a high-ranking delegation from the brotherly State of Iraq, in the presence of Mustafa Al-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Suleiman, Head of the Agricultural Research Center and the leaders of the ministry.

Al-Qusayr reviewed the development of agricultural relations with Iraq during the past period, foremost of which is the meeting of the joint Iraqi-Egyptian committee headed by the prime ministers of the two countries, which was held in Baghdad last October, and the recommendations of this meeting that were agreed upon by representatives of the ministries of agriculture in the two countries.

The two ministers agreed to establish a joint Egyptian-Iraqi agricultural technical committee headed by the two ministers of agriculture, and comprising experts and specialists in the two countries, to hold its meetings respectively in Cairo and Baghdad.

The talks also discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of agricultural scientific research, capacity building, animal and plant production, transfer and settlement of technology, exchange of experiences in the fields of artificial insemination, training of Iraqi cadres, and cooperation in the field of production and export of seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, modern irrigation, plant protection, serums and veterinary vaccines.

The two ministers discussed various issues of common interest in the field of agriculture, especially those related to the problems of exporting agricultural crops between them.

For his part, the Iraqi minister expressed the benefit of the Egyptian expertise and successful agricultural experiences and their transfer to Iraq, as well as training opportunities for Iraqi cadres in Egypt in various agricultural fields.

The two sides affirmed their keenness to solve all problems that may hinder the growth and development of their relations in this important field. He also worked in the fields of agriculture in general and a working group in the field of agricultural research.

The Minister of International Cooperation touched on the most prominent areas of cooperation, foremost of which is the development of the mechanism for the reconstruction program in exchange for oil, as well as benefiting from the Egyptian experience in the field of social housing, the entry of Egyptian contracting companies into the Iraqi market, and the establishment of joint companies for chemical industries, with the development of programs and time plans necessary for their implementation. , Thus enhancing mutual cooperation.
 
Al-Mashat stressed that the Ministry of International Cooperation is endeavoring to work with all efforts and continuous communication with all parties to implement the decisions of the third session of the Joint Egyptian-Iraqi High Committee, and that this defining stage requires bilateral cooperation between the two countries and activating the frameworks of that cooperation through initiatives and supporting the private sector.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Battal, the Iraqi Minister of Planning, expressed his gratitude for this visit, and his aspiration to strengthen cooperation relations with the Arab Republic of Egypt in all fields, and to activate what was agreed upon during the work of the Joint High Committee, explaining that Iraq is currently working on activating what has been agreed upon During the work of the Joint High Committee, where the oil for reconstruction program with Egypt is currently being formulated and developed, and it will be completed soon.
He also indicated that Iraq seeks to enhance cooperation with Egypt in the fields of social housing, construction and maintenance of roads in Iraq, in addition to technical and scientific support in the cultivation of grains and textile crops, support for small and medium enterprises, and investment in infrastructure.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed several other areas of cooperation, including cooperation in the field of digital transformation and statistics, as the importance of cooperation in this area increases in light of what humanity suffers from the Corona pandemic, and joint cooperation and coordination in tripartite cooperation projects in the fields of energy, electricity and oil were discussed between Egypt. And Iraq and Jordan, and maximizing the mutual benefit of these countries, which contribute to achieving economic development.
It is worth noting that the work of the first Egyptian-Iraqi Joint High Committee was held nearly 30 years ago during the period from October 28-31, headed by the Prime Minister, with the signing of 15 documents in various fields to enhance joint cooperation between the two sides, and the organization of an economic and commercial forum with the participation of the heads of the Federation of Chambers.
