Why are some post topics locked so you can not respond? And who decides which topic gets locked?

Tried to reply to a off topic post and could not. It was locked.

Why are some post topics locked so you can not respond? And who decides which topic gets locked?

Tried to reply to a off topic post and could not. It was locked.

If a topic is a tech support question, it generally gets locked when the support is complete.

If a topic goes too far off-topic, a moderator may lock it to prevent misunderstandings or stop arguments.

And sometimes an admin might lock a topic just to mess with YOU.
