Today, Tuesday, the Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee confirmed Iraq's ability to establish a group of petrochemical companies, while it revealed the existence of 100,000 foreign workers, including those illegally in Iraq.

A member of the committee, Representative Ghaleb Muhammad, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq annually burns approximately 18 billion cubic meters of gas, without benefiting from it, in generating electric power and other necessary needs," indicating that "this wasted amount covers half Iraq's electrical energy needs. "

He added, "Iraq is at the fourth level in gas reserves, and not to exploit this wealth is a purely political issue."

He pointed out that "Iraq is able to establish a group of petrochemical companies that will provide employment opportunities for more than 35 thousand young people in all chemical and physical fields, oil institutes, chemical engineers and oil engineers, but so far the projects remain, and there are no high outputs in this matter."

He continued, "The head of the Energy Committee sent an official letter, containing all the names of the protesters, to the Minister of Oil, in order to deal with these names, whether by appointing them to owners or contracts and to benefit from these youth energies in the issue of oil production, electricity generation, or in refinery companies." To that "absorbing youth energy and providing job opportunities lies through transferring the work of the Ministry of Oil to the Ministry of Oil Production, that is, work to establish petrochemical companies in the southern, central and northern regions, as well as laying off foreign workers who work in oil companies and fields.

A member of the Energy Committee explained, "There are more than 100 thousand foreign workers, including those who are in Iraq illegally, so they should be liquidated and replaced by the youth energies of graduates."

He noted that "the strategic plans need not to change the oil minister every two or four years, and to maintain a competent minister for a period of no less than 8 years in order to be able to implement the strategic projects and benefit from them."

Yesterday, the government announced during a press conference that it had sent the reform paper to the House of Representatives. "The time limit for completing what was included in the (white paper) extends from 3-5 years," said Ahmed Mulla Talal, a spokesman for the prime minister, at a conference attended by Finance Minister Ali Allawi, who was followed by (the term).

Mulla Talal added, "Intensive meetings were held with the Minister of Finance, with the aim of coming up with the white paper for economic reform," noting that "its time limit extends from 3-5 years."

In turn, Finance Minister Ali Abdul Amir Allawi said during the conference that "the white paper is a reform program for financial and economic affairs in Iraq, and it will turn into legislation with the aim of reforming the economic and financial situation." He added, "The situation of Iraq will be much better economically and the situation of the individual will improve if we succeed in implementing the white paper, as well as placing the liberated cities at the forefront of their concerns," noting that "one of the main axes in the white paper is to reform the situation in the provinces."

Yes Iraq: Baghdad

Anbar Governorate announced that more than one billion cubic meters of gas have been explored in 7 fields scattered in a number of regions of the province, amid Iraq’s tendency to contract with foreign companies for the purpose of increasing gas production and reducing its import.

Aziz Khalaf Al-Tarmouz, the advisor to the governor of Anbar for energy affairs, said, "The exploration and exploration operations have resumed in the province after the security situation had stabilized there."

He added, "The quantities discovered recently will encourage the entry of giant companies to start extracting gas."

He pointed out that these quantities of gas are distributed “between the Akkas, Al-Risha, Al-Rutba, Wadi Abu Shamat, 160 kilo and Wadi Al-Nukhayeb fields, indicating that the investment of these quantities will contribute“ to providing job opportunities and developing the gas industry in a manner comparable to what exists in developed countries. ”

The federal government is moving towards expanding the investment of free and associated gas, with the aim of maximizing the state's financial revenues and creating a new financial resource alongside the oil resource.

He added that "some parties still control and control the state's resources," noting that "communications form a major nerve in supplying the budget with large sums, as the state gets only 5 percent of the revenues, while 95 percent goes to the pockets of the corrupt and the beneficiaries of this sector."

And that "communications provide an amount of more than 12 trillion dinars annually, and can be used to strengthen the state budget and move the economic wheel in the country, to get rid of the current crisis."
