International Monetary Fund: The global economy is less bad than it was in June

The Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said that the global economy looks "less bad" than it was in June, and that the fund’s expectations for global production in 2020 will be revised with a "slight" increase.

Georgieva reported during an event in London School of EconomicsMy main message is: The global economy is rising again from the depths of this crisis, adding: “But this catastrophe has not yet come to an end.

She noted that the fund still expects a "partial and erratic" recovery in 2021. In June, the fund expected the global growth rate to reach 5.4 percent in 2021.

Economy News _ Baghdad

The World Trade Organization said global trade will contract less sharply this year than previously expected, but that the recovery next year will be much weaker than expected.

The Geneva-based organization expects merchandise trade to decline by 9.2% in 2020 and grow by 7.2% in 2021. The World Trade Organization had forecast last April that global trade would decline by at least 12.9% this year, followed by an increase of 21.3%.

World Trade Organization analysts raised their expectations for 2020 after increasing trade in June and July, when the lockdown was lifted due to the Corona epidemic. They warned that trade expansion could slow again once the export congestion was removed.

The World Trade Organization said in a statement, "There may be more negative consequences if the Corona virus reappears in the fourth quarter."
