A university professor and a government advisor in Iran sparked controversy after he revealed that many Iranians are praying for US President Donald Trump to recover from the Corona virus, according to the US " Fox News " news station .

In the days after Trump was diagnosed with the virus and later hospitalized, Tehran's sociology professor Muhammad Fazli took to social media to talk about "two groups" of Iranians who were "praying" for Trump.

Fadhli is an assistant professor at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. He is also said to be an advisor to Iran's Energy Minister, Reza Ardakanian, and deputy director of the Research Center in the Presidential Office.

Fazili said, in a post on Instagram over the weekend, that "it is not surprising that Donald Trump is hospitalized because of the Corona virus, anyone, including the president of any country, can be infected ... but it is very strange that there are many people." In Iran, wish him luck and leave the hospital safely and well. "

"The first group of people who were praying to Trump are ordinary people who believe that although the sanctions and the maximum pressure exerted by Washington have caused heavy damage to the Iranian economy, the hope for reforming the system from within has become impossible," Fadhli added.

As for the second group, Fadli saw that they believe that if anything happens to Trump because of Corona, this will increase the chances of his opponent, Joe Biden, winning the elections, and thus "an improvement in the economic situation and openness to the Iranian government and improving its image, and this is what they do not wish."

These facts made Fazili invite the rulers of Iran, saying: “The rulers should think about the things they did,” and understand the reasons for that.

Moreover, Fazili urged Tehran to study why some "ordinary Iranians" had reached this desperate point.

The Iranian rial suffered a record decline during the past month, reaching its lowest value ever, recording 300,000 against the US dollar, amid US sanctions.

The value of the Iranian currency reached 32,000 riyals to the dollar in 2015 at the time of the nuclear deal with world powers.

And the US sanctions have led to a sharp decline in Iranian oil exports - the country's main source of income.

A few days ago, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani admitted that his country had lost $ 150 billion in revenue since Washington withdrew from the nuclear agreement between the two countries, signed in 2015, and re-imposed sanctions on its economy.
