TRUMP'S OWN WORDS AND DEEDS

Recommended Posts

With everyone's emotions running so high about the elections, I think it's a good time for the candidates to speak for themselves.  Second and third hand information and confidential sources who may have ulterior motives, are not very credible.  Fortunately, both Trump and Biden have hours and hours of audio and video that speak for themselves.  They also both have a record of what they've done - Trump has almost four years in office and Biden has over 40.  In this thread, I'm asking people to post audio or video from Trump's own mouth and/or documentation on what Trump has accomplished - both good and badThere is another thread for Biden:  link

People are also welcome to post audio, video and documented accomplishments from Mike Pence here, as well.

This thread is only to document what the candidates themselves have said or done.  Please respect that other members here are capable of forming their own conclusions about what the candidates said or did, and that they don't need your help.  Please don't hijack this thread by turning it into an argument - there are plenty of other threads where you can do that.  I'm starting this thread to try and limit the escalating divisiveness here, but still have a place where we can post factual information to support our points of view, whether it's positive or negative, about a candidate.  Our country is being torn apart.  People are so angry and full of rage they've lost respect for civility and are even celebrating murder - as if unilaterally declaring someone is a fascist with no evidence other than that they like Trump, makes it okay to kill them.  Please, help me try and rein that craziness in here at DV.  Please just let the facts speak for themselves.  If you don't want to do that, that's fine.  But please don't post here, and instead go post in one of the many, argumentative threads that already exist.

However, I do realize people feel very strongly about all this, so I propose that you can express your opinon on whether you think the comment or action is a good thing, by giving it an "upvote".  And since the snowflakes here prevailed and took away our ability to downvote a post, how about we use a "confused face" to mean that you, as the reader, think the comment or action is a bad thing.  That way, you are allowed to civilly and respectfully express your opinon on what was posted, but not start an argument.

Again, only post actual videos, audios and documented proof of actions that were taken by Trump or Pence, themselves - with only a BRIEF introduction if you want.

Trump’s Numbers July 2020 Update

Statistical measures of how things have changed since the president took office.

  • 7.8 million jobs have been lost — including 7,100 coal mining jobs and 274,000 manufacturing jobs.
  • The unemployment rate soared to the highest levels since World War II, and stood at 11.1% most recently.
  • The economy — which had been growing modestly — shrank at an annual rate of 5% in the first quarter and much worse is predicted in the quarter just ended.
  • Stock prices dropped sharply in response to COVID-19, but they have since mostly recovered. The NASDAQ index even set some new records.
  • Corporate profits sagged, recently running 6% lower (even after taxes) than before Trump took office.
  • But inflation remained low, and real weekly wages (for those who still have jobs) are up 7.3%.

Unemployment — The unemployment rate, after falling at times to the lowest rate in half a century, hit a high of 14.7% in April, by far the highest since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking the figure in 1948.

Manufacturing Jobs —  Manufacturing jobs — which had increased under Trump — took a deep dive as the virus crisis forced a wave of plant closings.

Nearly 1.4 million manufacturing jobs were lost in March and April. A little over 600,000 of those had been regained by mid-June.

But the net result is that as of the latest report, 274,000 fewer people were employed in manufacturing than when Trump took office. That followed a net decrease of 192,000 under Obama.

Economic Growth

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic sent the economy into its current deep recession, the U.S. economy had been growing more slowly than Trump once promised.

Real (inflation-adjusted) gross domestic product grew 2.3% last year and 2.9% the year before — better than the 1.6% growth in 2016 but far less than the 4% to 6% per year that Trump promised repeatedly, both when he was a candidate and also as president. Growth in Trump’s best year was no better than growth in Obama’s best year, 2015.

Coal and Environment

Coal Mining Jobs — As a candidate, Trump promised to “put our [coal] miners back to work,” but he hasn’t.

As of June, there were 7,100 fewer coal mining jobs than when Trump took office, according to BLS figures. That’s a decline of nearly 14%.

Donald Trump: "Republicans are Dumb", why did this video disappear off the internet?

renderTimingPixel.png

I have no dog in the political race, but 4 months ago saw a video on Facebook where Donald Trump said the following:

“If I were to run, I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they’d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific.”
