Toquinho ( left...moustache guy), guitarist and collaborator of Music Composer Vinicius De Moraes-RIP .

Gilberto Gil ( right) , Musician, Composer and Secretary of Culture in the Lula Gov't.

Itapua' is a  nice (I happened to be there a few years ago) neighborhood in Salvador ( beautiful city, Brazil's 3rd ), Bahia state

I'm personally saddened by the fact they now have a fascist as president ( Jair Bolsonaro)....

Ironic given the fact Brazil had already gone  through a period of about 20 years of fascist military dictatorship ( beginning in the 60's until the first years of the 80's....Tancredo Neves was the 1st  democratically elected president...He died after 1 or 2 years  for natural causes...)

Just a few months ago president Bolsonaro decided to celebrate the day of the beginning of the fascist authoritarian military dictatorship ( which he shamelessly deems it as the best ever period for Brazil....) which started in 1964 and lasted until 1985...Unbelievable......

The old bathroom floor

A day to do nothing

A sea that has no end

And the setting sun in the air

Afterwards in Caymmi square

feeling laziness in the body

On a wicker grass mat

drinking coconut juice,

it’s good

To pass an afternoon in Itapuã

The Sun that glows in Itapuã

Hearing the sea in Itapuã

speaking of love in Itapuã

While the sea rises

A little green cloud of a leaf

To increase the sweetness

With a rum cork

And a forgotten look

The sky meets sea

Slowly, you going to feel good

The whole Earth turns,

It’s good

To pass an evening in Itapuã

The Sun that glows in Itapuã

Hearing the sea in Itapuã

speaking of love in Itapuã

Afterwards feeling the chill

Of the wind that the night brings

And to say that's said that it’s soft

That produce of the coconut trees

And that serene space

Without  yesterday and neither tomorrow

To sleep in the arms of  a dark-haired woman

Under the moon of  Itapuã

It’s good

To pass an evening in Itapuã

The Sun that glows in Itapuã

Hearing the sea in Itapuã

speaking of love in Itapuã

Watercolor ( I love this one...Somehow moving...Beautiful music & lyrics imo...)

In a sheet of paper
I draw an yellow-coloured sun
And with five or six straight lines
I easily draw a castle

I run the pencil to countour my fingers
and I get myself a glove on the paper.
And if I draw the rain ,
By just stroking two dashes,
I easily get an umbrella

If a little drop of paint
drips on a blue portion of my draw

For an instant, I imagine it to be
a beautiful gull, flying in the sky

And she flies on and on
Contouring a huge line over the horizont,
From the north to the south.
And I'm flying along with her
Over Hawaii
Beijing or Istanbul.
I paint a sailboat,
which is smoothly sailing away
There's so much of the sky and sea's immensity
into the blue-green colour

Through the clouds a beautiful airplane
in pink and granate is comming over
With its colours, it cheerfully tinges all around,
as it passes by and its lights blink vividly

With a bit of imagination,
I see it taking off, quietly and beautifully
And if you want
I can make it land

In any sheet of paper,
I draw a sail, leaving the quay,
With me and some of my friends in it
Drinking and having a good time, all in peace with life

From America to America*,
I can easily travel in a blink.
I just turn a compass around
and with a circle I draw the world .

A boy is walking on and on
as he reaches a wall
Over this wall, not too far from it,
the future is waiting for us

And the future is a spaceship
Which we try to drive.
But the future is always hurried and merciless.

There's no right time for it to come,
And without asking or warning us,
It just changes our lives
And then it beckons us
to cry or laugh together

Along this road, it's not our duty
to know or see what's comming to us
No one surely knows where it's heading us to
We're just going on the way
Crossing a beautiful footbridge
Painted in watercolour
which someday will fade after all

In a sheet of paper, I draw an yellow-coloured sun
(which will fade someday)

Youtube image: Capoeira (once, in the time of slavery, a wrestling style. Now a  dance typical of Salvador, Bahia, Gilberto's hometown) performers

I happened to see it live as it's everywhere in Salvador.....Impressive in the least the sync in which they move

From Japan

In the past there used to be a strong immigration of Japanese People to Brazil...Through the years and  decades that has created long and lasting friendships between Brazilians and descendants of Japanese  Immigrants ( then perfectly integrated in the Country)...

Therefore there's a lot of Brazilians traveling each year  to Japan (they get invited to visit, etc.).....So I was told when I visited Brazil...There's a strong relationship between the 2 Nations which I deemed interesting.....Especially because the 2 Countries couldn't be more different......
