The Central Bank announces the establishment of a banking relationship with Euroclear Bank

The Central Bank of Iraq announced, on Sunday, that it has established a banking relationship with the Euroclear Bank Foundation, which specializes in preserving securities and their investments.

In a statement received by Al-Eqtisad News, the Central Bank said that it had  completed " the procedures for establishing a banking relationship with Euroclear Bank, which is one of the internationally known institutions in the field of securities preservation and investment."

He added that it "manages central bank bonds estimated at $ 15 trillion."

In the statement, the Central Bank affirmed that "this achievement will contribute to strengthening the international relations of the Central Bank of Iraq and emulating international practices in the field of reserves management."

The Central Bank opens an account with Euroclear to develop the performance of foreign reserves

The Central Bank of Iraq announced, on Monday,👉 the opening of an account with Euroclear👈 to develop the performance of foreign reserves.

The bank said in a statement that Alsumaria News received a copy of that it had "opened an account with the EuroClear Foundation, in order to develop its foreign reserves management," noting that "this institution is the most important custodian institution that provides securities custody services, as well as services. " Others, including the ease in conducting investment operations without the need to conclude agreements with the source of the securities, the low costs of maintaining securities, and the ease of following them up. "

He added that "the process was previously carried out by central banks and correspondent banks, which impose an additional commission on keeping these papers, as well as the limited investment due to the multiplicity and complexity of procedures in the presence of the mediator."

The bank pointed out that "this step is important in the work of the Central Bank of Iraq, as it simulates international practices in the process of investing foreign reserves, and is an important achievement that this bank adds to its set of achievements in reserve management and international transactions. "
