An American intelligence officer reveals details of an upcoming visit by Al-Kazemi to Washington

image.php?token=b3e6c79da0cb8311ef9a1ae3542f0d0e&c=1593386&size=

5th August, 2020

A former CIA officer and senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, Michael Brigante, revealed a prospective visit of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to Washington.

In a post, Brigent said, “Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi is scheduled to visit Washington soon, although he has no appointment or invitation yet, so he is quick to say all the right things in order to secure a meeting with US President Donald Trump.”

He added that "Iraq is worse off than it was two weeks ago, and this last week pushed two issues to the top of the list for Al-Kazimi's visit to the United States: Hezbollah Brigades continued attacks on the United States and the Iraqis, and Al-Kazimi's calls for early elections that Hezbollah Brigades and his allies will not allow in the parliament Iraqi MPs with their occurrence. "

"The main item on Trump's agenda is for Al-Kazimi to do something about the militias that he is supposed to lead as commander-in-chief of Iraq. Militias that are part of the government’s security apparatus attack American individuals in Iraq who are there to partner with the Baghdad government to ensure a permanent defeat ISIS. Militias are now more threatening to the United States and the Iraqis than ISIS."

"Trump wants to know if the United States has a partner in Iraq. The president is ready to withdraw American forces from Iraq if this "partner" continues to be disappointed. Republicans and Democrats are looking for a reason to end this experiment and this will not be without cost to Baghdad and Tehran," he said.

He added, "There are two measures by the House of Representatives led by Democrats that indicate an end if nothing changes. The Democrats voted to reduce funding for the American Mission in Iraq by $ 145 million, and Republican Representative Joe Wilson was able to pass two amendments ensuring that no US dollars reach any institution in Iraq is where the militia can get the money - and that would mean that the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior will be the most affected."

And that “the United States is in Iraq to confront ISIS under a United Nations mandate, but the greatest threat to American forces is from militias that pay the Iraqi government’s salaries and are supposed to control them. It pledged to hold the prime minister accountable for the killing of Qassem Soleimani and founder of the Hezbollah Brigades Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis - both of whom were killed at the same time in a US drone strike in early January.

He pointed out, "Al-Kazemi ignored the threats to his life, but he is not ready to confront the powerful militias. Most Iraqis believe, as evidence indicates to the Hezbollah Brigades, that it is the militia responsible for killing the adviser to the prime minister and expert analyst Hisham al-Hashemi last month. Some observers say that this will expose Al-Kazemi Dangerous, even if he hinted that Hezbollah Brigades is responsible for the targeted assassination of Hashemi. "

He continued, "(Parliament, not the Prime Minister, will decide whether there is electoral reform and early elections), that is precisely the reason for which Al-Kazemi must confront the militias. No entity within the Iraqi security forces can publicly threaten to kill a president." Ministers without consequences If this is the place we are in Iraq - a place where the commander in chief cannot use the Iraqi security forces to confront a rogue militia affiliated with the Quds Force in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard - the United States must withdraw all support and place the Iraqi government in its disadvantage Economic, while continuing to support the traditional and new allies in Iraq, the largest of all this."

He added, "Withdrawing American financial support to the Iraqi government and punishing Iraqi institutions through which groups such as the Hezbollah Brigades pass US dollars to Tehran will affect Iran and its political parties in Iraq. The demonstrators are calling on Al-Kazemi to pursue the militias, they want the United States to end its support for the status quo." They want new elections to end Iran's vote on what the Iraqis are doing and they want it now. "

He noted that "one of the main elements of Al-Kazemi's temporary status as Prime Minister is the call for new elections and the arrest of those responsible for killing Iraqi demonstrators and restraining the militias loyal to Tehran. He said the right things but all that matters is his actions or inaction." He ended his blog by saying, "Let's look at Iraq before Al-Kazemi's visit to the United States. The demonstrators are back on the streets demanding free and fair elections, water, electricity, jobs, and a country without interference."

A representative source reveals the date for the resumption of the regular parliamentary sessions

A representative source reveals the date for the resumption of the regular parliamentary sessions

08/06/2020 13:01:47

A parliamentary source revealed the date of the resumption of Parliament's sessions, which were suspended due to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, and injuries were recorded among members and employees of the Council.

The source told {Euphrates News}, "Parliament sessions will be resumed on the third of next September on a regular basis, and before that there may be one or two emergency sessions regarding the completion of the election law and resolving the dispute over the electoral districts."

It is noteworthy that the work of Parliament has been suspended for months, except with the exception of limited sessions, including the vote on the government of Mustafa Al-Kazimi on May 7, due to the registration of dozens of cases of Corona virus among MPs and employees. It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives recorded the first death among its members in the pandemic of the head of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, Ghaida Kampash, on July 10, affected by her infection with the virus.

A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Hussein Al-Oqabi, said yesterday, Tuesday, that "Parliament stopped holding its sessions due to the spread of the Corona virus in the country and the high level of risk as well as the infection of more than 50 deputies with the virus (out of a total of 329), which necessitated stopping the resumption of the sessions, but now The holding of sessions has become an imperative to start completing the election law." He stressed, "The current political conditions and recent developments necessitate the convening of the Council, even at the level of committees, to decide on immediate issues."

Holding Parliament sessions at least in the next few weeks has become an urgent necessity to resolve the dispute over electoral districts in the election law, especially after Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi decided the date for early elections and held them on June 6, 2021, to throw the ball in the Parliament Square.
