Information / follow up.

Turkish forces arrived in Azerbaijan, to participate in joint military exercises between the two countries, after days of escalation between the Armenian and Azerbaijani armies in the Karabakh region, and the exchange of bombing of military sites.

A ceremony was held to receive the Turkish soldiers at the Umit Bridge at the Sidirik border crossing of the Republic of Nakhchivan, after the Turkish force arrived in Baku with a Turkish Air Force plane.

The ceremony included the playing of the Turkish and Azerbaijani national anthems, after which Turkish soldiers were stationed in the military units in the capital, Baku and Nakhchivan.

On July 29, the Turkish and Azerbaijani armed forces will begin comprehensive military exercises in Azerbaijan, which will last for 13 days.

The exercises will include tests of warplanes readiness in the two countries, and include the regions of Baku, the capital, Nakhchivan, Kanjeh, Kordimir, and Yulakh.

Also, during the maneuvers, the readiness of the forces will be tested on the implementation of military command orders, and the firing of armored vehicles, artillery and mortars "at hypothetical enemy targets."

Simultaneously, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoغلlu said that Armenia had taken advantage of the proliferation of the Coruna virus to launch its latest attacks against Azerbaijani lands.

The Turkish minister, on Tuesday, during a participation in an event on the environment through video conferencing technology, explained that health systems and economies are in a difficult situation due to the Coruna epidemic, and that racist tendencies and discrimination have increased.

And he added: "We can also take advantage of the period of fighting the epidemic for dialogue and peace. The conflict in Afghanistan is an example of this, as we renew our call to all parties to stop hostilities and focus on fighting the epidemic."

He continued, "And at a time when everyone is waiting for the clashes to stop during the epidemic period, and to benefit from them for dialogue and peace, Armenia will act in a way that contradicts this and by taking advantage of the epidemic period through its recent attacks on Azerbaijani lands."

The environment event was also attended by the Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jihon Pyramov, the Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Suzuki Kisuke, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Armida Salsiah Alistahbana.

On July 12, tensions rose again between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced that the Armenian army bombed its forces with artillery in the border area "Tuvuz". 25 h has ended

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the suspension of the Memorandum of Understanding with Turkey on granting entry visas to expatriates at border crossings.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Digital Media NRT received a copy of it today (July 28, 2020): "Iraq is keen to adhere to the agreements and memoranda of understanding that it will conclude with countries of the world in the framework of exchanging interests and promoting bilateral cooperation . "

The statement added, "And Iraq had concluded a consular memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Turkey in 2009 that requires the traveler to obtain a visa entry visa at the border crossing points without checking with the relevant embassy or consulate, in order to provide facilities for the transportation of nationals of both countries. The Turkish side suspended work on the content of this memorandum on its part, so the government decided to suspend its implementation by Iraq, in implementation of the principle of reciprocity . "

He continued: "In this context, the Foreign Ministry informed our embassy in Ankara of the decision, so that they would inform the relevant Turkish authorities, and we have also informed the embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Baghdad of this decision . "

After a long silence .. Zebari declares and reveals what Turkey will do with "Iraq"!

Baghdad / Sky Press

The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Hoshyar Zebari, said today, Monday, that the absence of the Arab presence in Iraq made Turkey and Iran control the fate of the country, while stressing that Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s government has an opportunity to make real reforms that stop loss, waste, corruption and foreign interference in the country.

Hoshyar Zebari said, in a televised interview, that “Iraq was three brigades, Baghdad, Basra, Mosul, and Turkey says that the state of Mosul, which consisted of Dohuk, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Nineveh, and even Khanaqin, is affiliated with it, and has a case brought before the international community.” Zebari added that “ Turkish talk about the mandate of Mosul in the past was taboo for Turkish officials,

But now they are speaking to him at the highest levels, and they have not hidden their ambitions, which we consider a great threat to the Iraqi state.

He continued, "Iran has security fears from Iraq due to previous conflicts and wars and has economic ambitions." He pointed out that "historically, whatever the differences between Turkey and Iran, religious, sectarian and political, are present, strong economic interests remain the grouping of the two parties, so they have no problem in understanding and cooperation, especially With regard to what they call the Kurdish threat because they consider it a threat to their national security. ”

Regarding the Turkish intervention in northern Iraq, Zebari said: "It is the duty of the Iraqi government to have a greater voice in the face of the Turkish expansion."

Noting that "the Arab countries made a mistake in not embracing Iraq after the disappearance of Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003 and this put Iraq under regional influence such as Iran and Turkey" and pointed out that "Arab absence allowed Turkish and Iranian expansion, and made Turkey continue to go to Iraq, Syria and even Libya."

Pointing out that "the absence of the Arab presence in Iraq made Turkey and Iran control the fate of the country." The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party confirmed that "the Arab countries lack the foundations of political and security presence in Iraq, but the time has not passed and there is a possibility to find fertile ground for cooperation through cooperation with the government Mustafa Al-Kazemi and the stability of Iraq is stability for the Arab Gulf states and an international need. ”Hoshyar Zebari said that“ Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s government has an opportunity to carry out reforms of the portfolio that stops loss, waste, corruption and foreign interference in the country. ”

Iraq and Turkey meet to resolve water issue

Baghdad / Omar Abdul Latif

Minister of Water Resources Mehdi Rashid revealed a meeting expected between Iraq and Turkey to resolve the water issue, stressing that Iraq has very strong pressure papers to reach an agreement with the Turkish side.
Rashid said in a statement that the Ministry of Water Resources is continuing its measures regarding the resolution of that file, and there is a meeting that will bring the two sides together to discuss this matter, expressing his full confidence in obtaining "positive results, after the issue became in the hands of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and not only the ministry, like Turkey and Syria, which put this file in the hands of the presidents of the Republic, as well as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, which makes the interest in this matter exceptional."
"There are very strong pressure papers to reach an agreement with the Turkish side on the water quota , we will not announce it at this time, and we are certain that it will give us positive results during the negotiations," he said.
Salam al-Shammari, chairman of the agriculture, water and marsh committee in the lower house of parliament, called on Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to form a high-level delegation of specialists to negotiate with the Turkish side.
Al-Shammari said in an earlier statement to «Morning»: «This delegation consisting of the Ministry of Water Resources and experts in the field of water in addition to the Agriculture Committee in the House of Representatives, can manage negotiations to resolve the water file and secure the share of Iraq, especially after the addition of marshes to the list of World Heritage, which obliges the countries bordering Iraq to provide a fixed amount of water to ensure the preservation of that environment."
Al-Shammari acknowledged the existence of a water reservoir that could feed Iraq for two years, but stressed that "this issue does not prevent negotiations with the Turkish side, and that there is a fixed entitlement of water that reaches Iraq."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed Ankara's intention to resolve its military campaigns in Syria, Iraq and Libya for its benefit and for its local allies.

On Thursday, on the occasion of the blessed Eid Al-Adha, Turkey’s official Anatolia news agency quoted Erdogan as saying: “We are determined to crown our struggle that extends from Syria and Iraq to Libya with victory for us and our brothers there.”

The Turkish president also stressed that his country will continue its efforts "until the end" in order to protect its interests in the eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean.

Erdogan stressed that Turkey "will not hesitate to use its sovereign rights," referring in this regard to Ankara's recent decision to convert the historic Hagia Sophia landmark into a mosque.

The Turkish President also touched on the epidemiological situation in the country against the background of the emerging Corona virus pandemic, saying that all sectors except tourism are close to returning to what was before the start of the epidemic, with the country turning to the stage of "returning life to normal".

He added that Turkey "won the world's appreciation for its successes in the field of health and others during the outbreak of Corona."

Turkish bombardment causes massive fires in Duhok farms

1596037310730.jpeg

30th July, 2020

A local official in Duhok governorate reported, on Wednesday, that fires broke out in farms as a result of armed clashes between the Turkish army and PKK fighters in the governorate.

The director of zakho district, Zirvan Moussa, told Shafaq News agency, "Armed clashes erupted between Kurdistan Workers Party and the Turkish army in the vicinity of Shransh village, north of Darkar district".

Turkish forces have penetrated several regions of Kurdistan Region since mid-June, as part of a large-scale military campaign to pursue PKK fighters, which are opposed to Ankara.

Moussa explained, "the clashes took place last night, and resulted in great material damages in more than 20 farms in the area, as well as massive fires in nearby forests".

The Turkish ground incursion was accompanied by heavy artillery shelling, causing great material losses.

The bombing sparked condemnation of Kurdistan Regional Government, which also demanded Kurdistan Workers' fighters to leave the region to avoid tensions.

Baghdad also condemned the Turkish attacks and summoned the Turkish ambassador twice and delivered two strongly worded protest notes, and the federal government deployed border guards at several points in the Duhok governorate on the Turkish border.

On June 17, Turkey announced the launch of the "Tiger Claw" operation in two racks in northern Iraq , two days after the launch of the "Eagle Claw" operation, as Ankara says that elements of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) launch attacks on the Turkish interior from Iraqi lands.

Turkey on water before requesting it to conclude a new agreement

847648-a8567c16-e935-4568-a7aa-ad21df85f
Baghdad ( NINA) / The former head of the Bar Association, Ahlam Al-Lami, confirmed that the government needs to review previous agreements with Turkey on water before requesting it to conclude a new agreement.

She said in a statement to the Iraqi National News Agency ( NINA ) that there is an agreement concluded during the era of former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki regarding Iraq’s share of water and entered into force under the era of former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

Al-Lami added that the current government should review the previous agreement before taking any action on a new agreement, especially as the start of filling the Elisso Dam was carried out according to this agreement.

She stressed the importance of ensuring Iraq’s water share and not linking it to any political repercussions experienced by the relations between Iraq, Turkey and Iran.
