President Rouhani actually announced this on twitter.  If this is happening in Iran, it doesn't bode well for Iraq...😟 though perhaps it might push the RV more quickly since things are getting more desperate there.  That should make it easier on the people at least.

 

Iranian President Claims 100 Times More People Have Been Infected With COVID-19 Than Previously Reported

A new report by the Iranian Health Ministry estimated that roughly 25 million people in Iran have been infected by COVID-19.

President Hassan Rouhani shared these findings Saturday, showing significantly higher numbers than the roughly 271-tho,000 and cases previously reported by officials.

This significant gap casts further doubt on the country’s official figures as they denied the virus’s arrival in February, allowing it to spread even further. Authorities said the low reported numbers are likely due to a lack of testing and poor data collection.

 

 

 

Rouhani said he estimates millions more are still at risk to contract the virus in the future.

“This report says that we should consider the possibility that 30 to 35 million people will be at risk of exposure to the virus,” he stated. “This same report suggests that the number of hospitalized people will be twice the number we have witnessed during these last 150 days.”

Officials are reimposing lockdown restrictions amid the new estimates, including banning religious gatherings and closing entertainment venues.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced, on Saturday, that 25 million Iranians have been infected with the new Corona virus (Covid-19) so far, according to expectations of a report issued by the Research Department of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education. "We are now at the end of the fifth month to confront this dangerous virus, and there are still concerns in Iran and internationally," Rouhani said during the meeting of the National Committee to Combat Corona Virus.

He added, "Since there is no critical medicine, vaccine and collective safety, there is no way for us to join hands to cut the chain of infection," noting that "I received a report from the Research Department at the Ministry of Health, which predicts that 25 million Iranians have been infected with the Corona virus so far. He continued, "14,000 people have lost their lives due to this disease so far and have been hospitalized during the past period of about 150 days, more than 200,000 in hospitals, and we should bear the possibility that 30 to 35 million other people in the country will be infected."

He explained, "The report stated that we should expect to review twice as many people who have fallen asleep in hospitals during the last 150 days, and we may face disease until the end of this year (the Iranian year ends on March 20, 2021) or the beginning of next year as well."

The Reuters news agency reported that Iranian health officials sought, on Sunday, to reduce the estimate of President Hassan Rouhani that about 25 million Iranians were infected with the Corona virus. The agency quoted Iranian health officials as saying that it is based on immunological blood tests that measure exposure to the virus and cannot be relied upon to show the current status of the disease

The figure that Rouhani mentioned on Saturday equals nearly a third of the population, which is very much higher than the official number declared cases of Covid-19. Sima Sadat Larry, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, said that the official number of cases rose today to 273,783 cases, and the number of deaths rose to 14,188 people

A statement of the Ministry of Health, carried by Iranian media, said that the number mentioned by the President was based on figures set by a deputy in the ministry. "It is not possible to rely on immunological examinations to diagnose the current condition of the disease," the statement said

"The immunological examinations show only if people have been exposed to the virus in the past," Mustafa Qanei, head of the State Scientific Committee of the Anti-Virus Task Force, was quoted by the website of the Islamic Republic of Iran News website as saying

Qanei added that PCR tests for the throat and nose are necessary to diagnose Covid-19. Parliamentarian Alireza Salimi called on the government to announce one official figure for cases of HIV infection

Rouhani, when announcing yesterday to estimate the infection of 25 million Koruna, did not mention what this figure was based on, but added that a number between 30 million and 35 million others may be at risk of developing COFED-19

It’s a shake down scheme. They need $$$$$ any way they can get it. Let’s hope the world takes pity on our plight and throw $$$$$ relief aid our way.

Personally I think Rouhani has too big of an ego to try a shake down.  On top of that, I don't think he really even cares about his people except so far as they serve his purposes.  Having them hiding and afraid probably makes it easier for him to control them.  (That seems to be the alt left's game plan in America after all).  We've known for months that Iran has been under-reporting deaths, so maybe he's just trying to get in front of this before it gets so big that he can't cover up anymore it blows up in his face.  That said, I can't begin to try and understand how a man like Rouhani thinks, so I just watch what he does and try to make sense of it as time goes by.  

 

I had hoped that coronavirus was fading away, but with the uptick in cases around the world, that doesn't look to be the case.  Still, I'm hopeful that it may still fade away soon.  But when you see Rouhani post these huge numbers, I for one can't help but think about their neighbor Iraq.  After that, my mind starts to wonder if we will see the rest of the world follow suit and basically admit that we're all pretty much gonna be exposed to it.  Personally, unless you're a hermit who completely stays away from other people, I think that's inevitable and is why I'm such a huge proponent of boosting our immune systems with high does Vit C, lots of Vit D3 and zinc.

Every country on the planet has more cases than reported numbers. BUT there is also less deaths than being reported. Yes I have lost people to the virus and they had tested positive, but I also know of death certificate having covid19 as the cause of death when the people were in their last days of cancer and other terminal illnesses. Hell, the government in the U.K. Has stopped reporting daily deaths because they were caught fudging the numbers!

Unfortunately , I do think that this virus is here to stay for the foreseeable future and as a society we will need to live with it.
