The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Hennes-Blackshart, confirmed her willingness to assist Erbil and Baghdad to reach a radical and long-term agreement on their outstanding differences.

A statement on the office of the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masroor Barzani, received by "Al-Akhbariya", that the latter "received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Hennes-Blackshart."

He explained that "the meeting discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the ongoing efforts to solve the outstanding problems between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government."

And the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, according to the statement, expressed "her willingness to help the regional government and the federal government to reach a comprehensive and radical long-term agreement that satisfies both parties and is in the interest of all Iraqis."

The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government indicated that "negotiations with the Federal Government are continuing in order to resolve all outstanding issues through an agreement based on the constitution."

He stressed the need to "activate the joint security coordination mechanism between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army in the Kurdish areas outside the administration of the territorial government."

ERBIL - Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Wednesday received the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary- General for Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert to discuss the relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

During the meeting, according to a statement by Barzani's office, the UN envoy reiterated her support to the continued peaceful dialogue between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to resolve their disputes.

The Kurdish president reaffirmed Kurdistan Region's readiness for any solutions in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution.

The pair also exchanged views on coronavirus pandemic and its implications on the economy across the country, the statement added.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani receives UN Special Representative for Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received on Tuesday Head of United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert.

Both discussed the political and security situation in Iraq, including ongoing efforts to resolve disputes between Erbil and Baghdad. During the exchange, Prime Minister Barzani stated that the shared goal must be agreement on the basis of the constitution.

On the disputed territories, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the shared benefits of restoring joint security mechanisms between Peshmerga and Iraqi security forces.

SRSG Hennis-Plasschaert expressed readiness to help both parties reach a comprehensive agreement that serves the interests of the Iraqi peoples.

Baghdad News:
President of the Kurdistan region, Nehirvan Barzani, confirmed today, Wednesday, his willingness to offer all solutions based on the constitution with Baghdad.
A statement issued by the Barzani office received news "that" the President of the Kurdistan region by actor of the Secretary - General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Blaschart, and Tnaakeca on "relations of Erbil , Baghdad and dialogue in order to resolve the problems between them , " according to the Information Office of the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region statement. "
On The United Nations' position on the continuation of the dialogue between the two parties, Blashart, confirmed their support for such steps, saying: We encourage the two sides to continue the dialogue and seek solutions.
The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, had confirmed during his meetings during his recent visit to Baghdad with a date that "it is time for us to reach a common understanding and to solve the problems once and for all through a comprehensive and mutually satisfactory agreement and provide security, stability, justice and progress for the present and future of Iraq."
