Shafaq News / The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq announced on Monday that it will begin, starting this month, to transfer data on consumption expenditures to the electronic digital system to reduce corruption and strengthen coordination between government institutions and their management.

The Minister of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Awat Sheikh Janab, said in a statement received to Shafaq News, that "the Prime Minister issued directives to transfer the data of consumer expenditures to the digital system (digitization) to reduce routine and facilitate the transactions of citizens", noting that "this decision is Part of the reform process adopted by the ninth ministerial formation of the territorial government. "

The minister pointed out that "the government is working to control consumer expenditures, organize them and work on important projects in the public service areas that are in the interest of citizens." He also praised the "role of employees of the Information Technology Department and the Directorate General of Accounts in the Ministry of Finance to prepare and equip this system."

This system will be started in all government institutions and departments starting from the current month, and all information will be available through the electronic system by the end of the month, provided that the data is limited to the government's data center, which will enable it to organize all expenses and develop strategic plans for the financial sector, according to Statement.

ERBIL - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said on Monday that it has started to roll out a fully digitalized system to control the operational expenditure as part of the ongoing efforts to implement the Reform Law.

"This important modernization step – the result of detailed collaboration between various government bodies – will increase the efficiency and reduce corruption by ensuring that all government day-to-day expenditure is completed online," reads a KRG statement said.

Minister of Finance and Economy Awat Janab Noori said in a statement that following PM Masrour Barzani's instructions, all operational expenditure, as well as the process, has now become digitalized.

"This progress is part of the government’s broader package of modernization and reform measures, reducing bureaucracy to allow the government to better serve our citizens. Increasing transparency in government, and reducing corruption, are essential components of these reforms," the Kurdish minister said.

"The more the government can control its operational expenditure, the better positioned it is to spend on vital public services and projects that benefit all citizens. I commend staff in the Department of Information Technology and the Ministry’s Directorate General of Public Accounting for building the application."

According to the KRG's announcement, the whole of the government will be online by the end of July while all the data is said to be recorded in the government’s own data centre.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - The Kurdistan Regional Government is this month rolling out a fully digitalised system to control operational expenditure. This important modernization step – the result of detailed collaboration between various government bodies – will increase efficiency and reduce corruption by ensuring that all government day-to-day expenditure is completed online.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister of Finance and Economy Awat Janab Noori announced that this month, following instructions from the Prime Minister, all operational expenditure and the process has now become digitalised.

“This progress is part of the government’s broader package of modernization and reform measures, reducing bureaucracy to allow the government to better serve our citizens. Increasing transparency in government, and reducing corruption, are essential components of these reforms. The more the government can control its operational expenditure, the better positioned it is to spend on vital public services and projects that benefit all citizens. I commend staff in the Department of Information Technology and the Ministry’s Directorate General of Public Accounting for building the application.”

The new digital system will be rolled out across government departments this month and the whole of the KRG will be online by the end of July with all data being recorded in the government’s own data centre. It will ensure that the KRG will be able to record savings made from spend requests for operational goods and services, providing the government with real-time visibility over its budget so data from the system can be used to make better strategic financial decisions.

It will also help to establish stronger financial management processes across government and ensures that individual ministries are held accountable for their spending, as well as reducing unnecessary bureaucracy and the time it takes for entities to receive their requested goods or services, provided the request meets the spend controls criteria.

Thanks Yota,  the war on corruption is underway and Iraq inches towards a sovereign nation, the corrupt can run, but they can’t hide. Digitized expenditures is one way to curve the mafia, I’m stoked that this is taking place.
This coupled with the opening of the files of the “corrupt” will bring back stolen money to a nation who has had its wealth pilfered for years.  Well, let’s hope so 🤷‍♂️ We patiently wait.....
